What is it that you're expecting him to do on the PP. When he stands there, he either gets shots off and often scores, or he ties up a defender and allows the other 4 to move the puck against 3 which is a better PP than a 5 on 4 .

People don't seem to understand the basic function for Laine on that PP. It forces the opponent to pick their poison. If they put a guy on Laine, then him just standing there keeps that defender away from the game.

If they don't put special cover on him, he kills you with the shot.

He's easily the most effective PP scorer in the league, so that's what you get for that "lazy standing".

Demidov will be carrying his own line in the future. I'd keep the first line together. They're having a bad game, it happens. Nothing to get stressed about. Demidov is a game breaker. Obviously give him good linemates but Caufield needs Suzuki and slaf way more than demidov does

Just looking at the Blues Bench:

Montgomery - drafted by the Habs
Julien - two time Habs head coach
Ott - former short lived Habs player.

Lots of connections there, I hadn’t really considered.

Forgot to mention this earlier but the highlight of the night TV wise was when they were showing Marty on the bench and you could see there was a lady pulling a flask out of her bra and taking a stiff one before putting it back in her safe spot. Busted! (Pun invented).
