GDT: Game #70 - Kraken @ Oilers - 8PM - All Decks On Hand

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

On its face, the fwds look like poor decisions by knob. Perry and Hyman together seems redundant, J Skinner deserves top 6 time. But I'll give Knob the benefit of the doubt until we see it play out. Maybe with more minutes having Skinner there gives us 3 lines that can score, seeing as Skinner can create on his own as well as anyone we have right now.

On D, I'm still saying we should split up Ek/Bouch, and even moreso now with McDrai out, to improve depth on the backend. Nurse-Walman hasn't won me over.

Nurse-Bouch
Ekholm-Walman/Stecher
Kulak-Stecher/Walman

Surprised to see Skinner back in the bottom 6.
That’s what scoring 2 goals gets him. He was in the bottom 6 the third period last game and Perry was bumped up. I have liked Perry this year- but he had problems the whole game trying to keep up. Seattle is also speedy- having him in the top 6 again is going to be an issue

Oof. Just gotta hold onto the fact that those forward lines will eventually have McDavid, Drai, Frederic and Kane in them.

Its Seattle. Surviving should be entirely plausible. Time for a lot of forwards on this club to wake up and show why they are still here.

Why is skinner starting again? Grrr
No idea honestly. Do they have to care about his mental wellbeing to the degree in which they had to with Campbell? If so he should be booted to Robidas Island with him.

He is objectively worse than Pickard, who is a journeyman, barely scraping by, only in the NHL because the Edmonton Oilers have no goalies level player...let that sink in.

His statistics are far worse, but more importantly -- he isn't consistent. On any given night he can completely sewer you with multiple backbreaking, unacceptable goals against. How many times did we see it in the playoffs? Too many, that's what. In my opinion his flailing cost us the Cup in game 7 but that's another topic in itself.

He is the 'goalie of the future' but doesn't play like it. He has the homegrown pedigree that Pickard doesn't, but he hasn't proven to us that he is worthy of being in the net over Pickard. Surely this is our pathetic excuse of a goalie coach being his long time mentor and family friend wanting a feel good story, rather than him objectively believing Skinner gives us a better chance to win hockey games. We have multiple seasons worth of games now to know he doesn't.

Agreed. Perry has had a great year but there are diminishing returns when his ice time increases. Keep him in the bottom 6 and bump him up situationally.

Am I the only one that is excited to see what they can do. I'm definitely not happy about McDrai being out but this could be a blessing in disguise.

They played great in the 3rd period last game, if they can play great today and win......it will go a long way. This might be EXACTLY what the team needs for a few games.

That being said, if we score 1 goal a game for the next 4....it could be bad lol.
Not to be pessimistic, but that was an adrenaline filled 20 minutes. This will be more realistic, to try and get by for 60, or more. However, optimistically, it's Seattle.:D

tbh excited isn't what I'm feeling. I do follow the blessing thing being it FORCES the rest of the forward lineup to stand up and fight. We need that.

This is a pretty terrible Seattle team that is out of playoffs and nothing to play for and often looking like it. Nights I've seen Seattle they've been horrible. It should be possible to rise up in this one.

Surprised was probably the wrong word but with 2 players gone from the top 6 and coming off a 2 goal performance I thought even Knob wouldn’t dare. Would love to see someone question Knob on this.
Knob has quickly fallen into place like the previous coaches before him. Broken record!

The fact that our wings are more embarrassing than our center depth really says something considering we’re missing the 2 best centers in the NHL
