Pre-Game Talk: Game 7 -- Sunday, 7:30pm EST

Maurice said the Panthers were nervous in game 6. They steamrolled the Leafs in 8 straight periods and were still nervous... I thought that was an interesting statement. Can the Leafs clone game 6 into a repeat of game 7?

Can some one please stop throwing Tanev grenades? that guy is getting hit more than anyone in this years playoffs, how about we give the guy a little time, forwards you are allowed to slow down the forechecker, McCabe... dude protect your partner by either eating the puck or give him more time before you pass him a grenade and give him 1 second to make a play.

I kind of expected this after losing two in Florida. This is what they do. They look like an ECHL team for a few nights and everyone is grossed out, and they turn around and go on a 8 game heater.

I don’t know if they will win tomorrow, but I’m sure it will be in difficult fashion win or lose tomorrow, because it’s the Leafs.

Lorentz did the chip and run last night and got completely blocked off with no interference call. Now that the refs have set the bar, we can block their forwards off completely in the same way to shelter our D. Hope Berube took note.

Good luck to all and enjoy the Leafs in the Cup final. I'm going to make good on my bet a bit early and sign off from this site (even though I'm going to win the bet). Have to give a bit more time these days to real life.

The end of an era, who am I supposed to chirp now??

I thought the Leafs would game 4 or 5 and was dead wrong so I won't dare make a predicition on a game 7, but I can't help and remember Will's game 6 last year. He was fantastic and deserved the shutout but the crowd was so loud that everyone stopped playing with a second to go and Boston scored that last second goal to break the shutout.

Last year's game 7 was the calmest I've felt with this group until we heard Woll was injured, then I knew it was over.

Woll got the shutout this time and is hopefully healthy. I wonder if this is unfinished business for him.

Don't be ridiculous. We need your optimism to contrast the constant pessimism spewed by the Dubie boys.

Here's one thing, and it's sad: we've never been here with these guys in the playoffs, a game 7 second round. Literally the best playoff performance in 9 years. It's just strange given the feelings, I guess it not the destination, it's the journey lol.

One game to vindicate themselves finally, anything can happen.

They are a win away from game 5 not mattering and being forgotten by most fans like game 5 in ottawa. If Matthews / Marner factor in a big way like they did game 6 most will remember Matthews / Marner winning them the series.

This is huge legacy and history rewriting stuff. A final win and you are in the last 4 standings. only 8 more wins for a cup. And I think it makes the team and the fanbase really, truly believe in them

How sad is it that after being up 2-0 in the series, we are now happy to be going game 7.
Most of us expected this, I think most leaf fans who believed in the leafs voted for Leafs in 7 - myself included.

It doesn't matter how you get there, start 3-0, start down 0-3, or tit for tat all the way to 7. Doesn't matter. All that matters is these last 60 mins of hockey

For once I’d like to see home ice be an advantage. Not just the crowd noise but matchups, long change for just one period, last change and faceoff matchups.

Anything can happen. Ultimately Leafs can turn the corner and come up with a clutch game 7 win. The Panthers can make good teams look bad. They frustrate player and fan alike. Play like they did last game and they have a chance.

I had Leafs winning in 7, the losses in the series weren’t what I was expecting (thought more like 1 goal losses) and I thought it would be Stolarz. Series, but in the end we’re where we are. That doesn’t matter anymore. Leafs should feel good about Woll seemed to have found his game at the right time, Matthews scoring and their overall defensive game from the last game. Should clear some metal blocks. Let’s go.

We need that first goal

A lot of the games that aren't blowouts in this series turn into arm wrestles where the first goal carrys a ton of importance

We've given ourselves another opportunity after a great effort game 6, let's make it count lads and have that deep run we've all been dreaming of

If they repeat how they played tonight, I'll deal with whatever fate we're dealt with a lot better.
Hey I’m thrilled we won, but I thought Panthers played poorly deserved the loss. Still it was a boring game, if not for the circumstances I probably would have only half watched

Almost double the number of hits taken as the #2 guy, that's the Florida forecheck for ya

That 6-1 Panthers win looked like it was self-demoralizing for Game 6. Like here comes the cakewalk (which we all expected). Dangerous thoughts if you have to finish the job.

Another thing that's odd is they got most of their goals from random Dmen.

A Game 7 at home against the defending Cup champ, now including your Rat nemesis, to get into the ECF, shed the "playoff loser" tag, and salvage the Core 4's reputations?

Embrace it. Doesn't get much better than that.

Psychologically, this is all wrong to me.

The best the Leafs can do is narrowly focus on the first 5 minutes of Game 7 and play the best they possibly can, and get to a good position after 20 minutes. And then do it again. And again.

You get to legacy talk, history being rewritten, and a Stanley Cup 8-9 wins from now? That's just asking the team to grip their sticks more, lose their heads on the bench and watch it slip away while inviting maximum pain.

As far as fans are concerned? I think you have to go one commercial break at a time like the team too.

I really felt watching the game yesterday that florida was more conservative than they have been all series. They looked like they were waiting for the leafs to come at them hard. I expected they'd turn it on more than they did and take the game away.

I don't think they'll do that again.

They tilted the ice in the second but it never looked like they would ever score and never did. Credit to Matty for breaking through for the win. Now do it again or last night means nothing.
