I know you aren't allowed to criticize him on this board, but wasn't he supposed to be the best 1 OA pick in years, a franchise altering superstar and a 80-100 point skilled winger, the next "Matthews" level player? I'm sorry outside of a couple of flashes I haven't seen anything like that. I really hope I'm wrong here.

I would cut him some slack because he was a beast in the playoffs. Probably one of our best/most consistent forwards overall. But yeah it's clear he's not gonna live up to the franchise altering star we thought we were seeing when he was in the Q. Still hope he can be a Matthew Tkachuk level player because even at his age he isn't afraid to go into dirty areas.

That is probably all he can do right now and he is never gonna get that shot on pp1. Gauthier would be more effective 5 on 5 and that is saying a lot.
