  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Apparently we are asking a lot. It really is crazy to think this is year 9 without a playoff game. Wouldn't shock me if this drought reaches Buffalo Sabres bad. I just don't see it changing any time soon.

Like our goalies to start next year are Talbot and Mrazek, and all these pylons on D are still signed. It's really hard to be positive with this team. 9 years of losing with no light at the end of the tunnel, but Yzerman will tell us all to be patient in his end of year presser. May as well just take a recording of his presser last year and play it again, he's gonna say the exact same things
Yep same shit every year. He has to get rid of some of these mistakes whether it’s trade, buyout, burying I don’t care get them the f*** off the team and then do something bold in FA/Trade. 1st round pick should firmly be on the table for a top 6 F/ Top 4 D

Todd in his post game mentions lack of willingness to get in lanes and block shots from certain players every night. I wonder who he’s talking about. Terrible Seider game but he’s by far the best shot blocker on the team and generally our top 4 is willing to block shots so I wonder if he’s talking about forwards. I wonder where our forwards rank at blocked shots. Just thinking it does seem like we don’t get many from them. We might find our forwards leave our Defense out to dry on the defensive end. We have a big strong defense we should be able to protect the net better than this. The PK too there is no reason for them to struggle so much. Is our defense that bad? They can’t defend or score? Or our forwards truly terrible and can’t run a system? 2 coaches same problem

Like do we know Larkin can play defense? He is good at faceoffs and skates around but is he Matt Duchene with Colorodo? Lots of minutes can’t hit PPG can’t finish the season with a good plus/minus. He needs to be ROR level for his production to lead us anywhere and I don’t think he’s got it in him. Our leader is the skinniest guy on the team too. A 19 y/o prospect ain’t going to develop a passion for weight lifting if the team doesn’t care about it

6’1” and 199 lbs is the skinniest guy on the team to you?

Larkin is basically the same size as Zetterberg. Just an inch taller. He’s 10 lbs heavier than Raymond and almost 20 lbs heavier than Shine.

I would agree with him that our forwards suck at blocking shots. The Washington game every single time they shot from the point it got through and ended up in a goal or a better chance than it should be. The PK, the setup is god awful because we are allowing teams to shrink in so far that every player becomes a threat, and then we apply no pressure so guys can dust it off and make plays. You have to put players under pressure nowadays because everyone is too good with the puck and can shoot

Why are we putting this on Larkin?? The guy outplays his contract yearly. Maybe start putting the blame on the guy who builds the team. What team is going to do well with the worst d-core and way below average goaltending?

Blame the guy who traded a firmly top 4 d-man on a good contract while attacking a 2nd round pick. And that same player was flipped for a 1st round pick so clearly the league feels he’s a top 4 d-man and our GM had to attach assets to him, honestly a fireable offense in itself.

Then he let go of a high end offensive d-man who can at least be a top offensive guy to help with scoring even though he isn’t great defensively for a teemu version of the same guy who is both worse offensively and defensively.

Then he trades a very solid bottom pair d-man that is honestly playing very well and like a #4 guy in another jersey in Matta.

This should have been the d-core and I don’t care how he had to clear money but it should have been with Holl and Husso. Not signing tarasenko would have helped too but at least he had a solid track record

Walman-Seider
Ed-Jo
Matta-ghost
Chiarot

Hell I would have even been fine with one of Maatta or ghost not been back but to lose all 3 of Ghost, walman, and Matta and to replace them with Gus, Holl, and Petry is just f***ing absurd.

That D-core has us firmly in the playoffs right now no doubt in my mind

Seider wasn't great.

But looking at all three 5on5 goals, weren't Chiarot making bad plays on each goal?

Hertl's goal he's deked and left out of position, he then goes on to just hound the guy with the puck. Fails to block the shot even though he's in the lane. I think Tank screens Talbot on the goal though.

Roy's goal is 50/50 maybe, but looks like he over-commits on a guy that isn't attacking the goal with a few seconds left (could be wrong here, that may have been the correct play). At the end of the day, Berggren should've have gotten that puck deep, terrible game from him.

On Stone's goal he gives Hanifin too much space on the entry, probably over commited on Hanifin as he gets closer aswell. However, at the end it probably comes down to Rasmussen not covering anyone while 3 Vegas players are attacking the net.

It just looks like they're scrambling in their own zone.

We can agree to disagree but that may have been the worst game I’ve seen seider play. I’m certainly not saying holl is better or even good because I think he’s a total train wreck 85% of the time

Seider having a bad game should still play more than Holl. The only way Holl should see 20 minutes of ice time is practice, or we lose 2 defenders to injury in game.

There's also the chance/risk Seider wasn't 100% and they limited his time somewhat. It happens.

Or the coach is going through evaluations of the team for next year...I suspect we'll see some cups of coffee for several farmhands after the completion of the road trip unless the wings win the next 2 games.

We probably have a better chance of winning giving kids games then what we are doing now
Agreed.

I am pretty sure that T-Mc would take on a team mid-season if it was understood that it would be an evaluation for the rest of the season...they had a lot of early success, but as other teams got some tape on the changes, they exposed the flaws...I am pretty sure many of the players are now in the nicked up phase as well.

I am expecting some (several) changes to personnel as result of what T-Mc wants versus what the team has on the bench so they have fewer flaws in their play...if it is in GR, he will want it as soon as it is ready and excise the parts he doesn't want.

So I am expecting that if the FO feels the team is out of it after this road trip (need to win both of the next games on a B2B to even think they have a shot), the last 11 games will be more like pre-season audition, and players are playing for their spots and kids will get a chance to prove they belong.

I suspect this message has been relayed to the Griffs, as several of the D-yutes are kicking things up a notch (shooting, clearing the crease and hitting) of late according to Our Lady Peace...there are a few pending RFA ELC graduates that SY will likely want to see before extending them...or not.
