  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

    Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Game will be on ABC and ESPN+, Let's Go Boys!

Hoping that with the Oilers top two out for a while and Vegas being too far behind the Jets to change their conference seeding, that they maybe go into a coast mode for a bit and let the wings surprise them twice in short order...but hope is a 4 letter word, and the cold hard reality is the Knights will come out and look to pummel the wings to make up for the recent loss....at least we'll get to see if T-Mc has managed to create an improved look for 5vs5 the past few days.

Evaluations are still going on guys, show up and play 60(5) minutes, you need points to stay in the race.

Fingers crossed for a big win.

Have to figure an L here seals their post season fate.

Need to go on a winning streak and regain some ground in the standings.

This team is better than MTL. There isn’t any reason or excuse for why they should be finishing behind them in the standings this year.

Maybe because they blew the entire first half of the season out the airlock because they hated Lalonde's system and style?

At this point i just wanted to draft higher and our prospects progress . I want Buchelnikov come over to GR. ASP and MBN win championship, continue Kiiskennen and Plante improvement. Buium and Danielson have some games with Red Wings.

Also praying they'll win here.

But what makes you think they're objectively better than Montreal?

In terms of players right now:

Caufield=DeBrincat
Suzuki=Raymond
Slafkovsky>=Kane
We have Larkin which is better than Laine/Newhook, but they've got better depth with Anderson/Armia/Evans.

On D:
Guhle=Edvinsson
Hutson=Seider (at least in on-ice impact, because his offense is so much better. Though I'd take Seider over him still)
Matheson>Chiarot
Savard>>Holl
Carrier>Gustafsson
Johansson>Struble
Xhekaj>Petry

Their D is on balance better than ours mostly because of the lower end guys being better.

In goal is a wash with Montembault/Dobes.

To me it seems at best we are on par; they've got better depth and we have a slightly better top-end on forward.

No they don't. They need to tank and get a top 10 pick.
They have 15 games left, 10 of which are on the road and have the toughest schedule of any remaining team.
It's is incredibly likely they will miss the playoffs.
Winning games to barely miss again isn't going to help this team in the future. Being in the top 10 for a draft pick will!

I don’t think the team’s objective at this point in the season is to tank for a better pick….

Interesting comparison.

When I watch the Habs play I don’t see their team as being superior. They have 1 line that produces and the other 3 are pretty flat.

I don’t think losing games at this point in the season helps the current players on the team who are going to be part of the core for years to come (Larkin, Raymond, Seider, Ed, AlJo…)

There is no material difference between picking 9th and 15th

I don’t think the Habs are much better but they’re also not really worse. We are on the same level talent wise as MTL/CBJ/OTT hence why we’re always hanging around the same spots

I am not for losing, but I am for letting kids to play and not stress to make postseason. Watson deserves to call up , but id rather see Danielsons play with Kane , for example

hate to say it, but from here on out I'm hoping for a loss.

Except for one game: The Senators on Thursday. Because f*ck those guys.

If it were just the Canadiens we had to catch, I'd have hope, but it's not, it's also the Rangers, Islanders, and Blue Jackets; while holding off the Bruins and Penguins. If the Red Wings win tonight they'd have to go something like 10-2-1 to finish with 93 points and have a chance to beat whichever of the six other teams will just miss on points because that other team will hold the tie breaker. And we have to play the Panthers twice, Carolina, Ottawa, Tampa, Devils, Dallas, and Toronto. We'd have to go 5-2-1 against those teams and win the other 5 games.

Let's lose tonight and lose every remaining game, except for the Ottawa game next Thursday, finish with 72 points, and if we're very, very lucky, we could finish with the 4th worst record, and we'll draft 6th overall (because of course) and we'll get a pretty good guy. The one thing Yzerman can still do well is draft in the first couple of rounds. I'd rather he pick 6th, than 14th. I'd rather we pick 36th overall than 46th in the second.

From the Walman debacle and this year's trade deadline moves, I'm going to conclude that Stevie has smoked too much whacky tobaccy and his decision-making is less keen than it was about 500 bongs ago. But I think he can still draft well.

"The one thing you absolutely do NOT want to do is show up in Las Vegas with the Krusty the Clown attitude of "They were due!" However, just like last year, it's the last hand of games for Detroit, they've fallen ignominiously out of a wild card spot, and to have a chance of getting back in it, the team would have to go on a crazy hot run. The Wings missed by the smallest possible margin last year, so some fans are thinking they paid their dues for the last 8 years and feel like it's a golden night to not play the role of the Washington Generals again."
