It makes some sense from the team perspective.The lines, ugh. Meier being used as a third liner is so stupid. So is smith in over Bahl.
The top line is dominating so you can’t touch it.
Hughes and Meier both want the puck on their stick a lot and appeared to have trouble with deferring to the other instead of playing their normal game.
So let Hughes and Meier go back to lines where they consider themselves “the guy” and you can always put them back together later when Meier is more integrated with the team.
