GDT: Game 69: New York Rangers vs Calgary Flames. Rangers play at 8pm. Excuse me that’s 7pm on MSG

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

What is Igor ahead of Hellebuyck in?

Hellebuyck leads the league in GSAx, lapping the field.
I can't find what it was, but Hellebuyck's expected save percentage is .904, Igor’s is .881
Either way the analytics say Igor has been one of the best goalies in the league this season, these takes that he's been one of the worst are insane

I'm assuming Igor was 5th in GSAx because he used accumulated totals and not per/60. (But that would require setting a random minimum and filtering out goals who barely played) I don't know what Igor would be leading over Hellebyuck. Maybe goals against, or high danger shots against.

Whoever said that drinks too much.

Hellebuyck leads in the NHL in differential between actual and expected save percentage. Igor isn't all that close to him.

I do agree that Igor is having a solid year when you look at analytics based on team performance, but Hellebuyck is an island unto himself as the best goalie in the league. That's kind of annoying when the goalie we have insisted (well his agent did) that he's so much than everyone else that we had to give him an unprecedented contract.

Igor leads the league in xGA because we're ass, but Hellebuyck is 7th. The Jets are just slightly less ass than we are.
