The longer I stare at this the more horror rises within me

Honestly, the only thing about this roster that's horror inducing is that 3rd line which is like a 5th line. The top two lines right now and defense and GASP goatending are playing reasonably well right now. Frankly, last year we had a horrible 3rd line too. I think RIGHT NOW the biggest issue is the PP. It's horrendous. 5 on 5 they are no worse than they were last year with this roster. (Yes I realize 5 on 5 wasn't great last year).

and the PK is also something to actually look forward to....its getting to the point where we would rather be killing a penalty than having a power play. Bozo taking all these minors lately creates scoring chances for us.....maybe all those TMM penalties are some 4D coaching stuff from Lavy?

I'm ok with Othmann sitting. Dude has played in 14 games and has zero points. Not even an accidental one. He's still a part of the future as far as I'm concerned. Patience.

Yup, and as much as we like to scapegoat some others, he has probably been the weakest forward on the roster, and these are genuinely important games.

I see this stretch as more of a chance for him to acclimate to the NHL, and know what he's preparing for in the offseason.

I would hope and expect Drury has a longer term view on Othmann than many here do. He doesnt look completely inept out there but he's still a rookie. And as you said, these games matter a ton, it's not a development league despite people wanting to act like "The Rebuild" is still going on.

He seems like a guy who would have a big leap once (if) he gets used to the speed. So much of his game offensively is finding weak areas of the ice; those areas are smaller and more fleeting now than they've ever been for him.

But this isn't a stretch of games for trial and error. Hopefully if and when we're eliminated or clinched he gets some top6 minutes with guys who can open up more space for him.

Flames fan here, how is the goaltending in New York these days? Shesty back to earning his contract or?

Flames can't score and barely shoot, so good luck tonight if you want to watch an exciting game, it won't be.

Othmann getting scratched for Temu Kakko and Berard being put on the 4th line tells you everything you need to know about this team and it's youth.

Our goal tending has sucked the whole year. quick is playing better than Igor.
They both have played like ass. You just see a lot more of Shesterkin. .. and he's paid more. I think as of late, Quick has been pretty brutal.

At his current contract of 5.6mil, he's been pretty alright. For the 11.5mil he just signed, he's been an abject failure. Depends which standard you want to hold him to right now.

Igor is 5th in the league this season in the 2 most meaningful analytics & is actually ahead of Hellebuyck in other main analytics that factor in team defense. Igor has been worlds better than Quick this season, Quick has been awful.
What is Igor ahead of Hellebuyck in?

Hellebuyck leads the league in GSAx, lapping the field.
