Anyone notice they've kept these refs away from us since the inception of the meter? ;)

Also, 3x defensemen who haven't scored an NHL goal yet is probably a bad omen. Welcome to the scoresheet, some combination of Johns, Oleksiak, or Nemeth.

Maybe that'll be overridden by how much they love Dustin Brown.

all stats were almost equal, let say corsi for total:
- dal 49
- la 44

compared with that game, the main difference from lak's point of view: some chemistry issues solved. that game toffoli played in the first line, which produced a combined +60% of cf%, while all 3 other lines really struggled in this department.

to me it seems like lak is a different team now, more confident and willing to play energetic hockey for 60 minutes or more. lak stepped up another level, but i'm not sure if dallas did

superstition-o-meter victory odds 90%, good! let's just hope that this one will not turn into a bad jinx per se, with some sort of circular logic ("when that victory % is too high, it's almost surely a loss" kind of stuff)

Ruff noted he's split Seguin and Benn. Those lines look deadlier than before TBH but Kopitar should be able to run roughshod over their centers since their #1 is Eakin and #2 is Spezza (basically = Carter). He's clearly trying to jumpstart their scoring by getting them wing time, and keep in mind last game had some score effects corsi going since we were up, i'd expect this one to be more going hard at each other.

another thing: dallas 22.4% powerplay, #4 in the league. but as lak handled the hawks yesterday (22.9%, #3) i'm not really worried. just stay out of the box and give them the rope.

PK sure looked good last night. Not sure if that is because of LA or if Chicago had more of an off night

Kings need to win this. And hope last nights PK was a sign it's getting back to where it should be.

I'd rather see the Kings cut down on stupid penalties. Stick infractions and holding. They still take too many penalties. They were lucky last night in that they got a hapless Hawks team for some reason.

They got their shots but Quick was the best Pk'er on the team.
Right around half their shots game on the PP.
But a team like that you aren't going to prevent all the chances. You just have to limit them. And we did do that.

Hawks actually had a lot of good chances on the PP, but Quick was just better last night. They looked like they just gave up after the Brown goal though.

I agree we took too many penalties. But the fact we didn't allow a PP goal is what we need. It was the second game in a row we didn't allow a PP goal after giving up one in like7/8.

i couldn't help but notice that McNabb (Schenn to an extent too) takes a LOT of penalties when he tries to go all Scuderi with poke checks...when those guys keep it simple and just paste people into the boards first and worry about the puck later, everything seems to work out a lot better.

Right because if he misses he has a hard time recovering due to lack of agility. Sucks though because his reach is a weapon, as is his checking, but there's a bit of a dead zone in between that wrecks him. Development should help and having Scuds around should be great for these guys.

It was more like 13 games in 15 straight we allowed a PP goal and our PK was hovering 65% for that stretch. I agree that both were problematic though.

I'm expecting a letdown after last game. I can't imagine playing the Blackhawks, flying at midnight, trying to get some semblance of sleep and then playing the Stars a night later. Stupid schedule.

Dallas always seems to get the Kings on a back to back, or at the end of 3 in 4. I can't remember more than a time or two of late where the Kings arrived in Dallas rested.

There's a whole lot of stupid schedule going on for the Kings right now.
Hoping time zones like it's candy.

Next week is even goofier IIRC. the back to back from Chicago to Dallas is stupid, but next time involves quite a few cities and zones

Pretty much. Then again, I said i'd be happy if they split these games, and they have already done that.

how often do you hop over candy? I tend to not let my candy hit the ground.

How about hoping time zones like peter ****ing cottontail

No it stays in the central time zone as well. It's just the fact that the team would have already gone from CA to the Central to come back to CA for 3 days to go back to the central. And starting this right at the time change that already messes with peoples body clocks.
It's the curse of having games in hand near the end of the year.

Ahh right, yes back to cali and back out. Someone in another thread tallied the mileage and stuff, I'll try to find it when I have a few minutes.

The schedule is whack this season. I know the Kings are good on back to backs, but I'm not expecting a win tonight.
