GDT: Game 68 Red Wings at caps 7:00 pm et 3/18/25

I'll never be ok with Holland drafting Zadina, Ras, cholo, over Hughes, Eriksson Ek, chychrun
Zadina was ranked higher than Hughes in almost every mock draft.

Cholo was a complete reach and Ras was a size queen pick. Both show lack of scouting, Cholo was totally scared of any contact and Ras couldn't even skate.

Ras reminds me of Keith Primeau only without any of the talent or mean streak. He's just big for no reason and exists on the ice.

Ras should have been kicked out wide to be developed as power forward and been given PP time early on as a net front guy. We completely botched his development. I am not sure he had it in him, but I don't think we put him in a position to succeed often and we basically took the thing he excelled at in junior away from him in terms of net-front PP guy. It was a curious decision. He is going to have a long career but as a depth guy.

Zadina was rated highly and might be the most embraced pick I can remember on this board. I let out an expletive when we took him over Hughes, also was a massive Dobson guy, but Zadina was a lower end athlete. He bullied the Q and there was reasons to really like his shot, but I was worried about him creating separation, I was much lower on him even in the draft process, though I thought he was likely a second/third line winger so his failure certainly went lower. I figured he competed hard enough to still hang in the show for a decently long time.

Cholo had somewhat of an encouraging start, but yes he just couldn't survive a forecheck. Still has that issue yoying in out of the league at times. I really thought his skating would get him out of it, but he hit the panic button too often, sort of reminded me of Kindl there.

Ras definitely doesn't have it in him to be a power forward. But for years now he should've been spending time at practice trying to become the next Holmstrom.

It's easy to shit all over the Zadina pick, and Holland, now. But I remember at the time most of us were ELATED when Zadina fell to Detroit. That being said, Holland is a piece of garbage for not taking Hughes lol.

There's 15 games left dude. That's 30 points available. They are not "in".
I Think they're a safe bet to get in at this point. They have a home heavy schedule down the stretch too, so of course it's not a guarantee, but it's very likely that they are in.

I know those "playoff percentage sites" can be a bit misleading but Ottawa has like a 96% chance to get in, depending on which site you look at

Regardless, the wings need to win their own games, so let's hope they come out flying in the 3rd. Could REALLY use the 2 points.

Zadina is the only one that really bothers me. Hughes, Dobson, and Bouchard were just sitting there and we took Zadina.

Chychrun doesn't bother you? We literally traded the pick to Arizona to take a year of Datsyuks cap hit. And then picked cholowski with Arizona's pick

I wonder if he has to stick with the vegan diet and all that to skate better. For the life of me I have never understood him staying at 220. I like how Edvinsson played games last year and was eating avocados all summer to get to 230 and stronger.

240 and watch Anders Lee with his eyes taped open is what I would have done.
