The Bruins were sellers, as they should have been. This is what it looks like. Tampa turned up to work this time. Much as the 2nd period was tough to watch, this is where Boston is at and they just have to battle through the remainder of the season. Just play some more of the kids, that's all I ask. Don't miss this opportunity.

Joki looked pretty good again, Zadorov was +1 in a multi-goal loss. Nice to see Dino get a goal even if it was a softie. Thought Mittelstadt was decent and injected some energy again, even if the stats might not reflect it. You take what positives you can. Tough night for the top line.

Hopefully they are more competitive against the miserable Sabres on Monday.

The goal by E. Lindholm from Peeke was a beauty.

That second period was painful. @Aussie Bruin hit the nail on the head, as usual. I don't feel the same pain as I did when they missed the playoffs the last two times, it is expected this time and I had already resigned myself to it happening. If they sneak in, then it will be a surprise, but I know it is against the odds.

Tampa is a good team, ours has been stripped down, they flexed their muscles after the embarrassing loss they took in the last meeting. Let's hope for some fun games as the season winds down. I usually fly my Bruins flag during the playoffs until they are eliminated....maybe I should put it at half mast.

Feels like they got a little dead cat bounce post deadline just like after firing Montgomery, but water is seeking its level.

They’re not a competitive NHL roster right now given the trades coupled with the injuries.

Tune in expecting the worst and hoping for the best.

Not upset or angry about the current state of affairs with the Bruins. Those days have passed and there are bigger things in life.

MLB is starting and the Celtics look poised to make a run at repeating if Porzingis can stay healthy.

My little guy is a complete maniac. We’ve been house hunting for a couple of months and made an offer on a place closer to work. I want to spend more time with him as he grows and (fingers crossed) begins having his own athletic events. The kid is a ball of energy and needs a back yard to run around in.

The sun will shine on the Bruins again. We’ll see how many of us are around to see it and whether or not this place is still standing!

Joki and Zad(except for penalties again) were very good. I thought Geekie and Pasta were "relatively" good.

But Mittelstadt was awful. 14:30 minutes 5 on 5 without a shot. The team was caved in with him on the ice. Outshot 8-0 with him on the ice, but also out "fenwicked" 16-0. I mean, they didn't even have a shot blocked or anything. Just got nothing going. Allowed 6 high danger chances and got none. It's one game, against a much better team, and the whole team was outclassed, but possession numbers-wise he was the worst of the worst.

Mittelstadt's wingers were mostly Koepke and Lettieri. Against a team like Tampa, yeah you're going to up against it when that's what you're working with. And that line struggled, no question. I just thought Casey himself was at least trying to be busy and was looking to create and find space on those occasions when his line did get the puck going forwards.

Not trying to pretend he had a great game. He didn't. His ability to break up Tampa's offense was poor. Just liked some of what he was at least attempting to do offensively. He's a player I'm skeptical about that I didn't rate when he was in Colorado. But I'm trying to give him a fair assessment now he's in the black and gold. Too generous perhaps, but we'll see.

Yup time to play prospects

Elias Lindholm was at a loss after an embarrassing Bruins loss Saturday night at TD Garden.

For the second straight game Boston couldn’t overcome a dreadful period — this time it was an astonishingly ugly second — and lost to the Lightning, 6-2.

Boston was outshot, 21-0, in the middle 20 minutes when it fell into a 4-1 hole it could never crawl out of.
“I’m not sure really what happened in the second there. It was embarrassing,” said Lindholm. “The compete level was nowhere to be found and yeah, unacceptable overall there and yeah, it’s frustrating for sure.”

As the Bruins skated off the ice after their worst period of the season, they were showered with the loudest boos heard in some time on Causeway Street.

Lindholm understood.

“You always want to play hard at home. The fans deserve it. They pay a lot of money to come here and watch us play and obviously they have every right to boo when the effort is like that,” he said. “We were talking about it, to always work hard and even though we’re down, we try to push back. But tonight, it was unacceptable. We deserved to obviously get booed. Second period is the worst I’ve seen us play this year.”

Boston, meanwhile, was consistently a stride behind or a stick too late. Getting to loose pucks was a problem throughout, but particularly in the gruesome second.

“A lot,” said Bruins coach Joe Sacco when asked what went wrong in the second. “I think that Tampa came out and pushed really hard. They came out pretty determined in that second period. We weren’t able to execute under their pressure that period. I thought that coming out of our defensive zone coverage, we turned the puck over too much. We didn’t have proper support for each other out there on the ice.”

Sacco said his club’s will was lacking during that stretch when Tampa had them under siege.

“You have to be able to dig in at that point of the game and say to yourself, ‘I’m going to execute here. I’m going to make a play. I’m going to get us out of trouble right now in our zone.’ And you have to will your way out of that stuff,” he said. “You have to be prepared. You have to grind out of it. And Tampa did a good job of hemming us in there in the second you weren’t able to come out.”

Boston hosts Buffalo Monday before kicking off a five-game road trip with hopes of putting their worst performance of the year in the rear-view mirror.

“It wasn’t a good game for us. There’s no question,” said Sacco. “We had two good games after the deadline. The last two games are not good enough, obviously. We have players that are still getting accustomed to how we play and whatnot, but that doesn’t matter. We just weren’t good enough tonight and weren’t good enough against Ottawa. We have to show more. Monday’s an opportunity for us to be better.”

It's a shame Mittlestadt did not get a chance to play with Marchand and Lindholm(yes, his best CGY year was on wing) as wingers. Or Him at wing and Elias at C

Rejoice, two extra years of that @ nearly 6m per. He literally doesn't do anything on the ice.

You can look at the whole friggin team and say oh is this what it is going to be like. The last 2 games we looked just terrible and the results back it up. Only positive was E. Linholm's play last night.

Lots of changes needed before next season or it will be a long dragged out year.

Last night's game was what I expected from this team. The wins against Florida and Tampa were a surprise.

This team is not going to win much. Hopefully Don S puts together a better team for next season. Hopefully Sway works with goalie Bob and improves. It isn't all his fault but being one of the highest paid net minders in the NHL he needs to be better.

Like I said in the GDT it feels like a preseason game where players are trying out for a role on the big team.

I still don't see why they can't find at least one player to put an "A" on besides Pasta....but no one is standing out as a leader other than #88.

sigh....Poor Pasta.

Swayman brought a lot of this on himself, now can he turn it around next year possible, but Goalie Bob, can only do so much, my question is are you willing to gamble keeping him and being stuck with contract, I am not, I read your post the other day with fan being an ahole to him that's wrong, and should be thrown out, no need for that BS, I said when he signed his contract you need players in front of any goaltender, but cash register was emptied by Sway and his agent, that is not on them, but the front office. I could care less at this time about the "A" , do not commit until, you are sure. You are right about Pasta, but how long will it be before he rethinks his position on this team.

The 2nd line definitely needs upgrades this off-season. I think Mitts is a good start to that.

For the first time in…ever? I was more focused on socializing/catching up with the friends we were with than watching the game.

At one point in the second, my husband was like ummmmm have we had any shots this period? And I just burst out laughing and confirmed that no, no we hadn’t.

First time in the Boardroom. Very cool space, 2 floors, complimentary food and non-alc beverages. And it was good food, not just trays of lukewarm chicken fingers. There was an ice cream stand, a candy bar, popcorn everywhere, hot dogs, pizza, a carving station, mashed potatoes, veggies, a bunch of sauces, complimentary bottled water at every bar to take as needed.

@Ladyfan i looked for you on the train platform but figured picking up your prize might have delayed your exit. We were also on the opposite side of the building from where our season tix were so it took us a bit longer to get to the train so may have missed you.
