GDT: Game 67: Vegas Golden Knights @ Detroit Red Wings

Nobody on here to even talk about it. How could that Wings goal count? If you pause the video replay and move the clip forward, that puck was partially outside the blue line! Why didn't Cassidy challenge it? Was he worried his teams PK couldn't handle the Wings 2nd best PP in the league?

Because the puck has to be completely outside the blueline to be offside.

I viewed forty-two min.

My beloved Detroit took home vital game.

1-0 goal by Albert Johansson.

2-0 goal by Lucas Raymond.

3-0 goal by Marco Kasper.

Lovely, lovely.

🥳

All these years and I honestly didn't know that. Kind of a lame rule. The Blue Line has an edge to it. So if the player without the puck enters the offensive zone before the puck fully crosses the thicc blue line, then it is offsides. But if the puck only partially leaves the back edge thicc blue line, then the play continues in the offensive zone with no offsides being called. And you wonder why goals are disallowed for offsides and allowed for a partial puck out of the offensive zone! The rules shouldn't be so complicated. If the puck fully has to cross the thicc blue line to prevent offsides, then it should be the puck has to be kept fully inside the thicc blue line to keep it onsides. The NHL has some of their shit mixed up!

completely agree, the current offside rule is ruining the game imo. But I think it should be the other way were for zone entries the puck should just have to break the front plane of the blue line for a legal zone entry. It'll boost offense which would benefit the game and massively reduce some of these inferiority goal reviews.

NHL is so hard set in some of their rules that were far more applicable to the original 6 teams, but are not suitable for today's 32 team league. More goal scoring sells the game better, but some thick headed ppl not cleaning up/simplifying offsides rules are hindering the game!

Yeah there needs to be an adjustment. When every play can be reviewed, the game needs to be simplified as much as possible.

Anyways Vegas looks very strong think you guys are the team to beat.

NFL is mandatory reviewing every touchdown scored and quickly confirm it. NHL has blind mice reviewing goals sometimes.

I'm a Caps fan 1st and a Kings fan 2nd! Brodeur was my goalie idol. Vegas hasn't been so good on the road(not as bad as the Kings). It could be their playoff downfall. I just came here because I thought Vegas got screwed(little did I know the exact rules for keeping the ongoing play onsides).
