Did not realize some are placing so much importance on this game. I'm with the guys in my league where it would be great to beat Ottawa but not the end of the world if they don't considering that Montreal is not close to having the lineup that will take the next step to be more competitive and better rounded. Montreal is missing pieces and does not even have a 2 c currently, seems like pretty lofty expectations. I still play regularly and have coached in the past and would not put unnecessary pressure on the players and only would expect their best effort and hope they don't collectively need the Heimlich maneuver like Montreal did against Seattle.

If people are like me, they don't expect to make the playoffs. But they want to keep the ride going as long as possible.

Playing meaningful games in the latter of March is a good thing for this club, and the fans, who are normally waiting for the draft at this time in recent years.

If people are like me, they don't expect to make the playoffs. But they want to keep the ride going as long as possible.

Playing meaningful games in the latter of March is a good thing for this club, and the fans, who are normally waiting for the draft at this time in recent years.

That's how I see it. We're right where I thought we'd be. Fighting for a spot on the outside of the bubble. Guys get to play in some meaningful games and that's good for development.

Next year it's a full run towards the postseason. That's the goal. This year? I just wanted a step forward and to be 'in the mix.' We've seen that happen here. After a terrible start, pretty much ALL our key players except Dach have progressed. Reinbacher's injury prevented him from joining us but I'm not too worried about him at this stage.

Next year Beck, Demidov. RB... maybe Roy and others will join the team. We've built a really good foundation and have guys like Hage and Fowler on the way at some point too. It's gonna be exciting times to be a Hab fan.

It will be interesting how this young Habs team responds to a different level of pressure tonight. The key will be goaltending and discipline.
It will be fun to follow.

How quickly and easily some forget just how terrible our roster and org depth situation was after the Bargainbin decade.

It’s not uncommon for guys to call it quits when you’re out of the picture. Most will play through nagging injuries if it’s meaningful hockey. I guarantee that would’ve happened had they been lower in the standings this year.

To be fair, if we had the same injuries as we did 2 years ago then our roster would look just as horrendous today.
