GDT: Game 67: Sens vs Habs, Tuesday March 18th - 7 PM EDT | TSN2, RDS

1st why is the French media so hard on Arber Xhekaj?

All he said was that he hates Ottawa and that he thinks its Montreal biggest modern day rivalry as the two teams face off a ton in pre season and in the regular season play. French media decided to turn it into a negative......Nothing wrong with what he said and I agree with him, he should hate the Senators and want to impose some sort of physical battle with Brady Tkadumbass and take him out of the game as much as possible.

If Arber can manage to sucker Brady into a fight and be off the ice for 5 minutes or more all the better for Montreal!

Rant over

On a different note I'd love to see Florian replace Roy in the lineup. Don't need a another shooter on that line you need a guy to crash and dig pucks out of corners a guy who has some pace and can shoot. Heineman for me deserves that shot he's played extremely well. Florian is on a hot streak in Laval right now so why not give him a shot..

More size and speed throughout the lineup vs a hot Senators team right now is needed to slow them down!

Caufield Suzuki Slaf
Heineman Newhook Laine
Anderson Dvorak Gallagher
F. Xhekaj Evans Armia

It's hockey30. It's not even worth calling it media.

I was in Ottawa this past weekend and still think the city is nicer than many give it credit for. On the other hand, I think their team is shakier than given credit for. Ottawa has progressed to a lower-rung playoff team, but how much better are they likely to get? Cozens was a good add, but overall this looks like a good-not-great/young-but-not-that young roster that will run out of road before they get close to contending.

By comparison, Montreal's much further along with a younger roster and much better prospects than the Sens.

What are everyone's thoughts on bringing up Farrell to replace Roy ? Question posed on TVAsports that they likely picked up here lol.

Id rather let him continue his success with Laval, however usually players are rewarded when they perform to that level.

There used to be time when fights at practice here was due to lockeroom friction or the team going down a losing spiral.

I don't feel this is what's happening. It looks more like a team being very intense about making the playoffs and emotions boiling over. Got nothing against that.
I’d try it. I don’t care if he’s doing good for Laval that’s the point of the AHL. Gotta do good to get called up

I agree and I think Ottawa has overachieved. Some may even say the same about Montreal but this has been a really interesting year given Montreal being much more healthy and see what they’re really made of. I think Montreal is right where they should be progression wise while you’re right about Ottawa as they’ve been good but a late bloomer development wise. Montreal is far ahead age wise in development than most teams and that’s exciting. This should be a great game and I expect a lot of chippy play. I want to see Caufield light up Tkacuck with a hipper lol

Is Pezzetta f***ing kidding me right now? Lol

I used to really like the guy but there's this phrase that keeps rattling around my head right now , what is it, what is it again, oh yeah
"Worn out his welcome"
It’s crazy he was actually effective enough to be a legit 4th liner or extra. All he does now is try to hit guys right after they pass the puck so the hits mean nothing. Seems like a really good guy and these practice scrums are common. Looked like Arbor wasn’t feeling it when Pezzetta put his arm around him after though haha

Dont read hockey30. Common sense is barred from that place

Habs win they're 3 points up on a team that has played the same amount of games, or more.

They'll be 1 point up on the Rangers while the Habs still have a game in hand, too

So, i guess this game is bigger for the habs than I thought.

I don't know if Montreal or Ottawa overachieved – I think both earned their current positions – but if I had to pick one team moving forward, Montreal is the clear favourite. For Ottawa, Cozens could help their offence as Giroux fades and Sanderson is a terrific young talent, but I don't see a path for them to become more than a lower-tier playoff team.

On the other hand, Montreal's already close behind without Demidov, Hage, Reinbacher, Fowler, and with 20/21 year olds Slafkovsky and Hutson still developing. No guarantees, but Habs have much more potential for growth.

Good point about injuries – while we still had our share of missed games (Guhle, Laine, Heineman, and... sigh... Dach) it was nowhere close to the shitshow we've seen almost every other season.

Tonight should be intense! I missed Saturday's game because I was a good boyfriend, attending the GF's niece's dance show in Ottawa, but tonight I'll be planted in front of a TV screen!

The Sens were always just a goalie away from being a playoff team. But they need a lot more to be contenders, and they don’t have those players in the system. They’ve been trading picks and the picks they have made since 2021 have been underwhelming. Picking Tyler Boucher at 10 was comical. And while Yakemchuk is decent, he’s not Dickinson, Parekh or Buium. That’s looking to be an early mistake.

Yep. He beat up Olivier and Wilson too. Anderson is a beast. He's 6'3" 225lbs yet is one of the fastest skaters in the league, which says it all about how athletic he is. He's all fast twitch muscle.
He also took on Chara willingly when he was 22. Big Josh is a tough bastard.

I've gained a lot of respect for him this year. He really put in the work in offseason to improve and has been playing hurt for probably 2-3 months. He's found a role on the PK and shutdown stuff and has chipped in his share of goals.

The guy became a millionaire from plagiarizing stuff and not giving credit to sources. He chose to tell all last year, I think he even managed to move to Mexico. He’s created a click bait empire. I’ve caught him several times taking posts from this forum and massaging them into pages for his site, including memes we posted here. There is good money in hockey clickbaiting despite apparent saturation — there are always advertisers willing to sponsor such sites.
