Habs - Sens has been a bigger rivalry than Habs - Bruins or Habs - Leafs in recent years.

I expect a playoff like type of game with lots of physicality , drive and emotions. There is a lot at stake. This shall be good
I suspect this is only ‘cause the Bruins and Laffs have been way better than the Habs lately. Hard to have a real rivalry when one team is just kicking the other’s ass all the time. The Sens have been more on the Habs’ level, which is to say, they’ve been shit, so the games actually feel competitive. Plus, there’s the whole ‘whose rebuild is less of a dumpster fire’ angle. As the Laffs’ and Bruins’ window closes and ours starts to open, I’m sure those rivalries will start up again. The Bruins have already started their descent into mediocrity, and if the laffs experience another 1st round elimination, and with the potential loss of Marner, their window may be closing too.

I still hope for the Sens to crash and burn and miss the playoffs. This is what being a fan entails; preaching that you’re rivals stays and live in mediocrity. This is what we must all do.

Can’t lie, I’m looking forward to Savard-Xhekaj D pairing Vs Sens 1st line. It’s almost comical how Stutzle looks to the refs for a red card every time he plays us & the Tkachuk brothers both play tuff-guy Vs every other team in the league except us or should I say “The Sheriff”. I’m Stocked for this one!!!!
It should be fun in the coming years when both big X and little X are on the roster:popcorn::naughty:

So we have to win 16 games in a row to make the playoffs?

I think you need to redefine what “must-win” means
Obviously we won’t win them all, but the result of every single game could be the difference maker in a playoff spot or not. They can’t afford to take one game lightly.

Maybe a better way to put it would be they should tackle every game like it was a must win game.

Senators are probably getting the penalty calls because Andlaauer won't put up with being screwed over. Unlike gutless pukes Geoff Molson and Edward Rogers.

He already got screwed over twice and didn't do shit.

We don't know that. They get away with more diving than Flipper. Bettman may be helping them make the playoffs. And their schedule probably wasn't as bad as the Habs.

I would agree this is the biggest game of the year. Gonna be a war IMO.

Sens are a good team and always play us extremely hard. Going to take everything we have.
I hate thinking that sens can actually be a good team. It sounds so wrong.

They were really fun to make fun of for a while with their whole "summer of Pierre!!!" thing but they've finally taken a step after getting a legit goalie.

Green has cleaned their game up as well. Lots of good moves from management, that Dorion was unable to do. Stutzle usually has our number, but Tkachuk has been tame ever since Xhekaj has solidified his spot. He knows he'd be in for a beating and Anderson can knock him out as well. Should be a really fun game, but I hope they don't underestimate Ottawa, they have a solid roster.

Big game. If we win we will be in the last wild card spot and we take Ottawa down to a smaller gap where we could catch them. If they win, we drop back into the pack and Ottawa takes an almost insurmountable lead.

Go Habs go!

I don’t think it’s a must-win. It’s a big game for sure, but it’s not the Sens we are trying to catch. 6 points (really 7 because of regulation wins difference), is a pretty big gap with only 16 games to go. In reality we are fighting for that last WC spot with 4 teams.
If we win our 2 games against the Sens it does wonders to our odds. Rags are a good team, lacking puck luck / finishing. They could go on a tear and win 8 straight so catching up Sens and/or Devils falling back would give alternatives in that scenario.
