Messier is an interesting character in Rangers history. On one hand, he came in and willed the organization to its only Cup in now 80 years. On the other, he left for more money only to come back and drive the organization into the dark ages. Then, after he (finally) retired, he got into a pissing match with ownership about his post-playing career role and seems to now disavow his history with the team.
