44 points for Kreider is too many points for a 3rd liner, but we have a deep squad depth at the moment with the recent trades - if they can focus and connect with passes.

So we know Panarin Trocheck and Tarasenko was working well. We know who the 4th line is, We know we like the kid line, we know Kreider and Mika are a lock for 5 years together now sooooo seems fairly simple to put Patrick Kane on the top line

Gallant says nah throw it all in a blender

Just tuning in, how was the 1st?

Halak keeping us in this one, 4th line has looked very good have the one goal, other lines struggling to sustain offense. Took 3 penalties in the beginning of the period and cost us a goal. Could be a lot worse.

My lines…

Laf - Zib - Kane
Bread - Chytil - Tank
Kreider - Trochek - Kakko
Motte - Goodrow - Vesey

I feel like those are like… blatantly better combos.
the problem is the coaching staff HAS TO have 2 players who they think are good defensively with Zibs... so they can play lategame in defensive scenarios. That's why he rarely plays with the kids.... Kakko being the exception but Galaxy Brain refuses to put back our best analytical line together.

Our coach is the real no-brainer

We took 3 penalties early that resulted in about 2 minutes of 5 on 3 that the Pens scored on; my opinion is that it really changed the flow of the 1st, but we scored a good grinder goal with the 4th line. Happy to be tied after 1. We've been alright during 5 on 5. Halak looks solid. Mikkola had a good 1st.

They don’t dump and chase. They don’t hit.

“cAveMaN hOcKeY”

Just because they don’t score and the coach looks like a neanderthal, doesn’t mean they play that way. These guys are overpassing, overpinching, and doing too much. The one line that actually plays a simple game scored the team’s only goal today.
the caveman aspect to me is when the obvious play isn't there, it's what they do instead. Mikkola dumped the puck all the way in with room and no forward had a prayer of recovering that puck. when they dump and chase it's just straight ahead and nobody has a chance of retrieving it. they revert to stupid around the boards plays instead of opening up lanes and just moving. all of their clears are bank clears to nowhere or icings. it's a team full of players that want the puck to be someone else's problem.

I would call that caveman hockey but you're also correct i think

Is it me or the whole first period the puck seemed to be hopping around and rangers couldn’t get stuck on puck at all

It cannot be overstated how effective Kreider and Zibanejad are 5v5 and how important they are to this team.

We've taken them and made them a mixed-bag at best in terms of possession and they're not scoring.

Fox plays a lot with that line.

We've taken our three best players at even strength and essentially removed them to play a line that blatantly doesn't work.

I know we complain about every coach but Gallant has to be the worst we've had with lines. He just keeps crashing into a tree over and over again with lines that even the intermission panel are dunking on. Anything that does show a glimmer of hope, he breaks up after a period.

Mikkola solid again, good to see. Think I'm happy I missed that period by the looks of things
