Ahh, the perils of having a young team. The old-boy Redwings probably don't have these issues anymore.

I think the Sharks are due for a let-down. Plus, every game for the CBJ is a must win. I look for the boys to bring it tonight. They are due for a 60 minute effort.

At least a point is a must, but I think the boys pull two out of this one.

This article makes it sound like Cam and Richards aren't on the same page. Wonder why Cam says he "doesn't know why" he's been benched when Richards says he discussed it with him at length? Someone isn't being truthful. Either way, I hope this isn't something that simmers.

"It's tough playing every game and then not knowing why you're not playing when you're healthy," Atkinson said.

He said it was the first time he had been benched in his career. In the nine previous games, he had one goal and two assists.

Richards and Atkinson discussed the move several days ago.

"My conversation with him in Dallas was that he had something to prove, so I'm expecting him to come out and play hard," Richards said. "You'd expect there'd be some reaction being taken out of the lineup."

After sitting out the past few games, Atkinson believes he is ready.

"I don't think I have anything to prove," he said. "I'm going to work hard, play my game and try to be the hardest worker out there."

I just hope Cam isn't good at putting emotions to words or something; hoping he'll take the RyJo response and push it.

I hope he doesn't become another Brassard and have a country club attitude. We'll see how he responds tonight. He was good friends with Gaborik so I wonder if that plays any role in it.

the problem is with how the team treats goal scoreres - if Gabby would have 2 bad games, or in this case, Cam has a cold streak going, they instantly get dog-housed. Skill players going into slumps or have bad games, it happens and they need to play themselves out of it.

I can see why Cam is upset because the organization doesn't hold everyone to the same standard. Horton doesn't get healthy scratched or called out in the media when he has bad games or goes into a slump, and he's been slumping for awhile. You won't hear anyone calling him out or cutting his ice time...

Fantastic, gratz to the Arty family.

Now that she has popped, Arty still has plenty of time to make it to the rink!! ;)

Gaborik have 2 bad games?? He's doing so well out in LA....3 games, 0 goals, 0 assists, only 7 shots. No different than here, he can float in LA just as easy as Columbus.

Let's sort of be real about this situation. The team is trying to get a tough, big boy image going on the ice. Cam is not a big boy but he needs to smartly get involved in the ice to use his size to his advantage. He started floating a bit and someone of his stature who floats is more of a liability on the ice with the type of game the team is trying to play.

Its all about how he responds. I recall David Vyborny was once scratched for several games early on to start the season. Once he got back in the lineup, he never gave them a reason to scratch him again

With as much respect as I can must; your portrayal of how they treated Gaborik is just dead wrong. I can't see at any point he was ever in the "dog house". We didn't hear anything beyond they needed more if they were going to extend him. That is a reasonable request; especially sense his production wasn't all that good. You will not find a bigger Gaborik supporter around here than I and I can tell you I have no issue with how this team treats "goal scorers" or how they treated Gaborik.

As far as Atkinson; I commented for weeks (and it wasn't just him) that the Dubinsky line was a liability on the ice. This wasn't a "cold streak"; this was bad play in all three zones. They played in their own end much of the night.

I hope no one is buying what your selling; because, frankly, there is no truth or substance to your "goal scorer" theory.

I would recommend that we actually discuss the game and not your issues with the front office.

I've had issues with Richards and how people end up in his "dog house". In this case I don't have one with Cam. He will get his chance again. In case you are wondering; you will find me singing Cam's praises since he was drafted. Objectively he wasn't playing well or even all that hard.

Matt Frattin in for AA, apparently Richards has no hope for this game. I have no faith in Frattin, none . Might as well rest Bob too if we are playing this guy

Excellent points to make on a 4th liner who has played one game for the team.

I think it's a situation where both parties are right. Cam is a talented player and a hard worker, so I feel he deserves to play.

That said, of late his game has not been great and he could be doing more, so I see where Richards is coming from. Remember, this is similar to how Richards handled Johansen too. If anything bad comes of this situation, it's because someone is making it into a bad situation.

I'm sorry, but this is the internet. You're going to have to choose one side and then mercilessly mock the other for having a different opinion until a new debate pops up.

If Cam doesn't produce, everyone is going to say Richards was justified in taking him out of the lineup. If he does produce, people will say sitting him motivated him.

Best thing he can do is just focus on hockey and move on.

Everyone complains about man-games lost due to injury, but no one says a word about man-games lost due to childbirth. The CBJ should start including celibacy clauses in player contracts. We need Anisimov focused on the stretch drive; he can have his fun after he retires.
