I guess but if you're going to do something you don't wait for the refs to intervene and the other guy to look away. That was chicken ****.

I guess we will live up to our dirty rep for one night so whatever.

Edit: very true to the above posts. That was unlike Nolan. Something subtly dirty must have been said or done.
 
Seemed to me like a message not to touch Doughty. A thing you can afford with a score like this... still a cheap shot though.

Nah, wrong time, wrong place, way late. When I first saw it I thought maybe the other guy said something, but still. Only way I could defend a play like that is if the other guy said something racial, which I doubt.
 
That's the kind of crap the NHL needs to eliminate, no need for that and I don't think 4 minutes is nearly enough. Nolan should have gotten a major. We would be fuming if one of our guys got hit like that.

I said it was a cheapshot. It was a complete cheap shot. But it wasn't random. You don't fling a player over their goalie possibly injuring them without consequences. Players will think twice before they try to pull that **** off, it was a cheapshot though.

I don't know , Nolan is not a guy that does those things .I think that guy might have said something racial to Nolan.
 
I get Nolan wants to protect his team but would prefer he not do it by dishing out cheap shots like that. Then again, I'm sure Joenssu wouldn't want to scrap with Jordan.
 
Carter seems to be increasingly Sutter-esque in his interviews. It's pretty great.

Nolan had some bad hits in the AHL, but he has never sucker punched someone like that. He has always been a face to face scrapper.
 
Hopefully Nolan says something about it in the post-game interviews because he's never done anything like that after the whistle.
 
That is ridiculous, why any time a minority does something stupid (see Marcus Smart) do we automatically assume it has to do with race.

People do stupid things, that was just pure stupidity and very tasteless and cheap by Nolan. Not suspension or main board worthy, but he deserved a major there.

Its out of character , and most often than not ,its because someone did say something they shouldn't .

Thats why people jump to that conclusion.

Is it possible Nolan did something just stupid ? Sure. But hockey players have proved in the past some are racisit .
