I would not feel bad if they simply cancelled the rest of the season. I have been a season ticket holder from the beginning so I have seen some pretty bad hockey. Perhaps it was the expectations I had coming into the season based upon the way they played the past two years. But this has been the most painful season to watch this team that I can remember.

It has been painful, with the crescendo of injuries starting early and often, it has been a death of a thousand paper cuts.

That looks like a Russian T-34?? :) I only watched a fraction of the game, when I saw Bob give up the fouth goal I decided his playing won't hurt the tank and switched back to a movie... I'm actually excited for the draft...

How with 50k guests in town did the CBJ not sell out that game? Did they ever think of marketing to the Arnold crowd? I understand weekday nights have seats empty but with the District booming all weekend that just showed how out of touch they are.
probably would have been too much to invite Arnold to the game (they have done that in the past) or any of the other celebs?
Ever bar and restaurant in Arena and short north ispacked but Nationwide Arena? Brilliant Marketing guys...

No comments on the game - score speaks for itself.

Maybe the guests were in town to see the Arnold? Don't know but I'm not sure hockey is a game that has as much universal appeal as say the other 3 major league sports?

Arena District - Columbus
To me I could care less if we win another game this season. Only one team can win the Stanley cup, and it defiantly won't be us since we aren't in the playoffs. The most important thing to me is that the young guys , dano, wennberg, ryjo , get better every game. This was by far Wennbergs most aggressive game. Each game he is showing more, and more , and him, and dano look great together . Year after year we miss out on elite talents, winning meaningless games at the end of the season. So if the young guys give it 100% , and get this experience to do damage next year, then I'm fine with the rest

I agree with the others but ryjo hasn't really been playing his game, seems to be playing very physical but cant seem to put up points anymore. Im sure he will turn it around though.

You can do all the marketing in the world, if the teams not winning people arent going to show up its farily simple. Back in December it seemed like they stands were fairly packed, but as soon as we started losing that died down pretty quickly.

If you actually watched this game, it is understandable why the stands are not filled.

The place should be packed for the Oilers next Friday night. ;-)

Between periods 1 and 2 they played a recording of the crowd chanting "C-B-J" (obviously from a prior game). Certainly not the low point of the evening, but given the events of Period #1, it seemed "lame" at best.

Almost as bad as Billy Corgan doing his own backing vocals.

What's the context? I've heard it in the context of a promo video, but never just played for the purpose of the chant, which is what it sounds like you're saying. You sure it wasn't part of the video?

I was thinking the same. I didn't hear any attempt to gin the crowd with a recorded chant last night.

Don't know about the chant but I love the Flippo Avatar! Appropriate because I think we have a couple of king of the clowns on our team.

Not talking about Columbus residents. Hotels were full all downtown. This team is desperate for money (many desperate is wrong word, but they need as much as they can make) why they market to all those guests looking for something to do I have no idea.

Again maybe I'm wrong, maybe all the visitors stand in line to get their picture taken in front of the Arnold statue, then want to go to bars and restaurants and have no interest in watching NHL hockey. or maybe they are in a new town looking for something to do and since no one bothered to tell them "Hey there is a good NHL team in town playing against another NHL team, and seats are available, and it was rated as the NHL top experience a few years ago" was a bit too much to expect.

I do know they had $5-10 off coupons in some hotel rooms for the game. So I would say they at least made an effort.

I haven't met a meat-head body builder yet that was in the least bit interested in hockey.
