It can’t continue like this much longer is the silver lining. I expect wings to go on a little run before it’s over. The PK will be talked about all offseason. Imagine the dread and despair the team feels when they take a penalty in a key moment it has to affect your entire game and a lack of confidence in your own end.

Mo and Ed seem like they spend the majority of the game in position but in key moments they just whiff on those defensive cross ice passes and tying up the man in front. They should and will eventually be way better at that. This team is bad defensively because of a handful of key moments per game

So far the forwards only understand forecheck and back check as how they play defense and it gets them by but you eliminate a lot of extra skating by being smart positionally and helping an overwhelmed defense

weak defense: could not hold leads
weak offense: too many shots for a goal....yesterday 50 shots, 1 goal - lol

our goaltending is crap: 20 shots, 2 goals - too easy!
Ullmark: 98%, his best game since injury! *wtf*

forget it, it's hopeless! :(

IF they have same effort as last night could get on a roll. Even if they do I feel we will just get our hearts broke like last year. I am thinking put Holl on waivers he will clear and bring up Wallinder then Buium after we send Wallinder back. Lets see what they have to offer we have nothing to lose as they can lose a guy on the PK just like Holl.

There are a few things I think bode well for the future despite this season likely ending ugly.

1. Even though Kane and Tarasenko are not having stellar seasons, Raymond is this teams best player now. I think the Kane signing helped him personally a ton. His willingness to hold onto the puck came after Kane got here.

2. Holding onto Kasper. Each game I see him I like him more. He's probably never going to score a ton, but he just does everything well. All heart, smart guy who this team needs badly. Yzerman could have moved him for a high price more offense guy (Cozens?) but we will be glad he didn't.

3. Resurgence of Debrincat. Guy is playing hard. Turning out to be a great signing.

There was far more good in this game than bad and we clearly played well enough to win. That said, we need some f***ing presence in the low slot. We don't need guys standing there, but we do need to crash the net a hell of a lot more than we did. At this stage in an ugly slump, however, I do support shooting the puck as much as humanly possible, so I am not going to fault the high volume shooters. This is more of an issue with off puck play.

The PK feels like a giant psychological straightjacket at this point.

Better late than never I guess?

It only took most of the season to lock that troll thread.

New coach bump wearing off. Sitting at a 5.6% chance to make the playoffs. Time to focus on College Hoops and NFL Free Agency + Draft.

A Kings fan mentioned that they felt this was part of a Koala coached team. Long win streaks, long losing streaks. Perhaps they were right. I'm far too lazy to find the comment, but they had put up some data to back their position

I seem to recall a few Kings fans saying something similar.

You can't be too hard on a team that has Shine, Smith, and Ras kind of plopped in. You're not going to have a lot of cohesion. If last night would have happened in the middle of a win steak, we'd shrug and move on. But these losing steaks are aggravating

MUST WIN game, the next one too! Period.
I very much appreciate your positive and optimistic attitude. You should most certainly post more. I have criticised this board and the posters here that they are too negative and pessimistic. As you can see I think that the team has no chance to make it, but I think they should fight and try hard. This game was entertaining and exciting despite a few goals and the loss.

It seems like hockey gods have no grace nor mercy on our team. We missed a tying just for a literary split if the second. That puck was an inch of crossing the goal line for the tying goal.
Our defence is not good, our goaltending is not good either, we have 1 line and Raymond hit the cold streak. So basically we have no any strengths at all. And losing Copp hurts as he was good defensively despite being a black hole in offense.

So we have to hope for a miracle, both for this game and rest of the season.

Even though our chances are very slim, I think the team shows competitiveness and play exciting hockey.

I think rest of the season will be good for the young players to develop.
The focus should be on the core players Larkin, Raymond, Seider and Edvidsson. I think Raymond, Seider and Edvidsson have made a huge step this season and Larkin won't be alone to carry this team.

This team just played probably it's best game of the season, and lost ... because of an awful call that late in the game. Themselves and the coaching staff should be proud of the effort. Too many guys to mention who were very good last night.

If they can somehow continue to play at the same level, with the same urgency, they will not lose too many more games from here on out. Doesn't matter who's in nets. With a team playing like that in front of him, even new (old) whipping boy Mrazek could go on a run.

If they play like that, they can beat anyone.

I actually felt bad for them, they they got f***ed so badly on a rotten call.

I was optimistic before the game, but I'm no longer optimistic afterwards. Although we were “better” and had 50 shots to 20, we still lost. That sucks!
It's just not meant to be and I've lost hope. Above all, they should rather fail now and do something for the draft spots instead of catching up and failing again very close.

PS: It seems to me that the team is somehow cursed, for whatever reason. There's the fact of what SY did in Tampa and what he hasn't been able to do here for years. And then when I see last season the priority patch that made us lose for so long. Just one more point would have been enough! Garbage deal! ;)

Dear Red Wings, you can't torture us more bitterly than that! :(
