Was Dawes even in goal during that period? Couldn't tell when the puck was never in their zone.
Exactly, you’re going to give up goals when the ice is tilted one way. Igor usually bails them out but you can’t put up this type of performance, and expect repeated bailouts, happens way too often.

A glaring issue for this team has been their transition defense. We do nothing to slow teams down when they come in the zone. Personnel doesn’t fix that
every game i say the same thing to myself. they have no neutral zone game whatsoever... they just abandon it. What system is that?

We did better against Tampa on this point, but you can't backcheck when your forwards are all caught at the other blue line on bad turnovers. Its a glaring weakness of this team and why they are terrible 5v5. The cute plays Fox and Panarin have done the past 2 years have been read like a book by other teams leading to odd man rushes.

Recent St Louis game?

Nope, we were out of it the whole game. We were f***ing dominating this game. The first 30 minutes were some of the best of the year, some defensive lapses so not perfect but really good. The first half of that second period was even better than the first period. This was an absolute collapse in the real sense of the word. The St. Louis game was just a beginning to end domination by the Blues.

It is his fourth game there, yes, but Vatrano has shown less than Hunt in that position lets be honest

Agreed, as you said though, it has only been 4 games. I still think Vatrano is a good fit for that line, but the RW can't be the only one doing yeoman's work on that line. Need a fast, tenacious center on that line to give Panarin the space to operate. Strome is not that guy.

The first period was fine?

And when the Ice started to tilt, the lack of familiarity came to the fore-front. This isn't something i'm making up, a few analysts have noted that most teams that add multiple players at the TDL run into chemistry issues.

Are you even a real fan with all this complaining? I mean, COME ON! You must be an ISLANDERS FAN or something because all you do is complain!
