I wonder how much was it acting like a petulant child and how much it was some players falling off a cliff. Particularly guys that were already hanging on to a ledge. As mediocre as our D is right now, we used to have Trouba and Lindgren as two top 4 guys. Lindgren was here until recently, but it's easier to hide one guy especially with a guy like Fox, than 2 guys in the top 4. Then you have Kreider who still sucks. Mika, is just an emo player like Igor and he needed to play with a top 10-15 center in the NHL as a winger to find his game. The entire Panarin line has been worse this year. And Panarin is heating up but he's still just a very good offensive player and not all world like he was last year. There's no way they should have been 4-15. But it was one of those things where everyone's game fell off at the same time.

Maybe - I can't read the players' minds so I'm not going to say you're wrong, but from my POV it seemed like they were disinterested in giving anything more than a token effort. I mean, even if a player sucks, we all know what hard work looks like on the ice. I didn't see a team of crappy players working hard. I saw half the team mailing it in.

I think there was an element to it. But I don't think not giving any f***s was the sole reason. More like players feeling sorry for themselves and their game falling off. When you feel sorry for yourself it's hard to find your game.
