Thanks to Amazon's perfect 10 second rewind, I've just watched DC's goal 500 times in a row!

My biggest problem is with our top line. Giroux is the weak link. Give him minutes on the PK and PP2, give him faceoffs in the D zone, but use someone else with Stu in the O zone.Hard to really evaluate things from that game because of extremely desperate the Wings team was, but a few more observations that were evident:
1. We need more speed and tenacity on that 2nd line.
2. Mantipalo can never come out again.
3. We need Greig to play like that all the time.
4. Zetterlund has to play higher up (see comment 1)
5. Perron seems to struggle LW
Tkachuk-Stutzle-Giroux
Zetterlund-Cozens-Batherson
Greig-Pinto-Perron
Highmore-Gaudette-Amadio
Replace Highmore with Cousins and we have a great 4th line.
I still feel Amadio is trusted defensively far more by Green than Perron, but you can't put him on the 4th line.. so it's a tricky situation.
He will likely play Perron on that 2nd line a few more games until he is dissatisfied with the results before giving Zetterlund a look.
Detroit blocked alot more shots too,

Officiating was the worst I've seen all year,Just got back from the game - I think that arena was the loudest I’ve ever heard it for a regular season game.
Was the reffing as bad on TV as it seemed live? Like, totally lopsided?
Ullmark was fantastic. He played out of his mind. Such an awesome bounce back game.
We played like shit, and won. I’ll take it over playing awesome but losing at this time of year. If you told me we’d secure 4/4 points against NYR and DET I’d take it.

I was baffled so many timesOfficiating was the worst I've seen all year,
He’s a 7.1 million dollar center I fully expect him to score many more goals and many more assists. That doesn’t make me love him
That game was like watching an episode of Friday Night Lights. Very story driven. Legit would be a 4 and 3 quarter stars rating on the Meltzer scale from back before the star inflation.
Zetterlund better be in the top 6 tomorrow.
And Highmoee needs to understand that his job is to clear the puck, not dangle incoming forechecker.
Sens gotta play at the Tokyo Dome
Even though the Wings were clearly the better team, it wasn't a complete domination:

This was us on Saturday, a domination:

My solution is to keep Giroux on the first line, but reduce his minutes. Some of his normal shifts would then go to Zetterlund. For example if their shift starts with a face off, keep Giroux, but if it's an on-the-fly substitution, have Zetterlund jump in with Stu and Brady. But Giroux is more dependable than anyone else. Can't put Batherson there because Giroux is much better defensively. Can't put Cozens because it will ruin what Green likes in C depth. You can try Zetterlund there and put Giroux with Pinto and Greig but that line is used as shutdown line, not sure that's where we want to exhaust Giroux. We can put him with Cozens line but that line needs more speed and tenacity.
Staios will have to prioritize this in the off-season. Like Xspyrit said, the obvious choice is using Giroux's money on someone like Ehlers. Then finding a way to trade Perron and using that money to bring back Giroux on a much smaller caphit. But this will be an absolute priority in the off-season. Even if Zetterlund becomes the solution on that top line with Stutzle (which he can very well be) we will need a notable upgrade on that 2nd line because Perron isn't it at all. Especially because next year we want to not only replicate this year but go further and we cannot do that with Perron on the top 6 at 37 years old.
Until we beat their ass. Regulation win. 2 points for us - 0 for them. Nothing else matters.Game was actually pretty closely played with us even having a slight edge until Perron scored, then the refs went full donkey and the wings got rolling, and we never recovered.
I'm honestly feel most would like to visit Japan anyways.Sens gotta play at the Tokyo Dome
I wouldn't say pretty closely played, Wings generated absolutely nothing until the Perron goal, especially 5on5. Then somehow they went insane and had perfect scoring chances and passes all night long.Game was actually pretty closely played with us even having a slight edge until Perron scored, then the refs went full donkey and the wings got rolling, and we never recovered.
Zetterlund with 2 shots, 6 hits in 10 mins of icetime. He needs to get moved off that 4th. Line, he earned more.
Just give Giroux fewer shifts (when he's not taking a faceoff), and use Zetterlund then.He will for sure. At the same time who do you move off the top 9?
Perron needs to stay where he is I like him with Cozens and Batherson.
Giroux likely stays with Stutzle for the faceoffs and his drive.
Greig should stay on the left side with Pinto probably.
So I guess that means Amadio moves to the 4th line and Zetterlund moves up with Pinto and Greig. Thing is that’s also our shutdown line. Kind of a tough decision but you kinda have to move Amadio down.

Yup, and Prime captured what was going on after every shift either of them played - Yeo or Alfie right there with the dry erase board going through the sequence. Good stuff.Zetterlund is going to be massive for us in the playoffs.
I am not worried about a guy who had to Uber here from San Jose playing 4th line minutes in his first game.
We have more depth than we did before the TDL. It might only be one more legit middle 6 winger, but it makes a massive difference. Guys will move up and down the lineup. If he is still on the fourth line two weeks from now then I think people are right to complain, but this is more likely easing a guy into the new system and not leaning too heavily on him. Cozens only played 14 minutes tonight.
Bogus?! Chariot hit him square in the numbers 3 feet from the boards when the puck was 10 feet away! I'm not sure Greig even played the puck in that sequence. That's the most dangerous play in hockey and needs to be called every time.Late Power Play for the Sens on a bogus pentalrybto Ridley Greig - yep bad but bad in our favour.
Felt like we Sens slow killed the onge last night - and they deserved every second of the pain of having your playoff dreams snuffed out because their fans are annoying
