Classy coach. He's no Elaine or Michelle.
I think Chiller will get time served. Penalty misconduct was unfortunate, but better to be safe there and get him out of the game in cased they missed it, in case things escalated, ala Suger Shawn.
I understand the league is concerned about players getting injured.
But this isn't the first time we've seen, not only a penalty, but an ejection solely because a player is injured. It's a clean hit, period. I understand the league needs to protect its employees. But you can't strip down a physical game the point of "it's a major because a guy got hurt".
I'm glad to hear Burmistrov is saying he is okay. And I wish him the best in his recovery (from at least a concussion). But YOU CANNOT MAKE CALLS SOLELY BASED ON INJURIES. That truly challenges the very integrity of the game.
And now...Miller has to think twice about making a solid and impactful hockey play. It's just a shame. The lesson should be for the Coyotes D-man not to make the suicide pass.
Yeah, I think the league will conclude it's complete BS...but then posture that it was "a dangerous hit" and warn him...warn him to not hit hard, is the message...
If you could cut through all the PR, the league would tell you they want a defenseless player rule like the NFL. They don't like big hits. It's not just the refs, it's a pansy league attitude too.
The safety era in pro sports is out of control.
But no, I don't give the refs a pass. They always say they have to see it to call it...the call of "charging" is a smoking gun they just made up a call after the hit...Miller was gliding, skates on the ice, the whole time. At least make up a head contact call that you can say you missed because it was in the ball park.
Refs getting together and saying "he's hurt. Anyone see anything? No. That was a big hit. Let's go with charging. Sounds good."
That's heinous. They're making up calls. Bush.
