I"m not sure how some don't feel they see much of a difference besides the success, this team and system looks night/day different to me.
Aside from the fewer shots from the point as mentioned, the exchange of Backes and Pastrnak on the top two lines, and the lowered stress factor from behind the bench, I don't see much difference at all. The system looks very much the same. What night-and-day differences between coaching styles do you see that could account for the recent success?
Here's what I see and none of it is related to coaching style: Bergeron is back to playing like Bergeron. Marchand has begun playing like his old self. Krug and Pastrnak have recovered sufficiently from the surgeries to be playing like their old selves.
The single biggest difference I see in coaching style is the defense is activating lower in the o-zone, and as mentioned the D taking fewer shots from the blueline. That's about it.
