I actually think that Zetterlund might make a great asset to trade. Ideally, he's a great third-liner, and some team thinking he has more in him could be willing to part with a premium asset.
My issue is you can't have your entire team be players 18-20. Zetterlund is only 25. Sign him now for 5 years to have him cost controlled before the big boys get massively outrageous contracts when the cap is sky-high.

That's the right thinking, but I'd rather replace Zetterlund with an older, more established veteran who can provide mentorship.

Over the coming years, Zetterlund will be a more talented Luke Kunin...able to hold his own and fully adjusted to the NHL, but not someone rookies can lean on for help.

Lean on? No, but if everything goes according to plan he can be a vital piece to a legit third line that contending teams rely on heavily. A more established vet will be 33 by the time the team is ready to compete.

that thinking is the treadmill to nowhere plan, they need the talent like Zetterburg who can relate better to the 25 and under shark talent coming up. GMMG would just be looking for another player like him next summer. This team needs continuity and stability, they don't need any more marginal prospects which is all Zetterburg is going to get them, or a draft pick that is 5 years away.

My one complaint other than the second goal given up by Georgiev is I didn't like them running out the clock in OT. It worked out, but they had a chance to get one or two scoring chances and that felt to me like they were afraid to let Toronto touch the puck again. Even if you're not as good as the other team, you have to play without fear.
