Last year's team could come back in this one, but this years team knows their goalie will probably let another 2-3 weak ones so they know they're gonna have to score 7 minimum to get to overtime.

Do you seriously not want this team to get a goalie? Not every defensive mistake is an auto-goal. Like holy f***, some of those were actually stoppable by most NHL goalies. I mean cool if you're happy with this team being shit, but some of us actually want this roster to improve.

I think the obvious problem is this year's team has been practicing on this goaltending and so they can't figure out why shooting the puck right at the goalie isn't going in.

Maybe the issue is the leadership group then. If they need new coach every 150ish games... then its an uncoachable group and just get rid everyone wearing a letter.
