Part of a great defense is having confidence in your goalie to make routine saves. Hard to focus on defense when you’re walking on eggshells around those two goalies.

Not sending them on breakaways incessantly would be a start.

This isn’t even all a defense issue. They’re playing like complete f***ing idiots with the puck.

so thats one goal tonight, what about the other 3? that McTavish goal...3 oilers below the net, mctavish is all alone in front of the net and two oilers are behind him about 10 feet away not moving....you blaming picard for that goal? Sure he was unscreen on that shot....but thats not the issue.

you think a team playing proper D in proper position and supporting each other gives up those goals? No way. McDavids muffin pass trying to getting intercepted because hes trying to pass through 3 players and gives up a breakaway is a sign of a good team playing well and only having goalie issues?

This team is awful right now in EVERY aspect, they aren't doing anything right and haven't since coming back from the 4NFO, and truthfully were playing poorly leading into it as well.

Those are some strange looking figures. Ducks had several situations where they are passing the puck around the edge of our crease just looking for an empty net. Reminiscent of how the Caps were schooling us. Ducks had a lot of danger scoring chances in that period.

Only seemed that way because of how little we trust our goaltending and how awful the GA were.

The only true HDSC they had was the Terry goal.

5v5 high danger chances were 3-2 for us, Pickard allowed 4.
5v5 the ducks have a 0.5xGF
Pickard allowed 4

The only thing I can think is the tabulation must be slow. Ducks had half a dozen scoring chances in last few minutes of period.

they keep happening...its a team issue. Yes we need better goalies, but the team is also letting this happen with efforts like this. They are't committed to playing hard hockey, they are easy to play against, play soft and perimeter hockey. A new goalie doesn't help in games like this, or the Philadelphia and washington games. The answer needs to be in the room first, the players need to look in the mirror and decide if they want to win or not.

Its bigger than goaltending now.

Sure they're leaky, but that 2nd goal was horrific. Even on the 4th, McTavish didn't have to deke around Pickard. If he actually comes off the goal line he cuts the angle.

Goalies allowing bad goals isn’t a team issue. Goalies shouldn’t be allowing goals that are routine saves for 60 other goalies in the league

2nd and 3rd goals cannot go in. 4th goal the puck doesn't make it to the shooter if Pickard is awake at his post.

2nd and 3rd goal were both terrible. 4th goal was very saveable to any goalie over 6'2 who didn't basically sink his entire body inside of his net.

A goalie is the biggest reason they’re down 3, anyone with half a brain could see that. Goals 2 and 3 were awful

I'm not kidding I would give it a go. At this point there are f***ing goals both Skinner and Pickard are letting in I'm certain I could save. I usually do beer league drunk in net too. Sober I feel I would be a step up. This is just insanity at this point

They haven't just been losing, but getting absolutely lit up and by more than a few teams in the bottom of the order. Outworked in nearly every dimension of the game, beaten to loose pucks, losing puck battles down low along the boards, and caught puck watching or puck chasing and abandoning any semblance of defensive coverage. How the hell is this the same team that was in first place FFS? Completely confounding for every single fan.
