He was carrying up ice, had some speed, and had plenty of room. Opted not to try to make a controlled zone entry and dump in to chase his own puck instead, fine I guess. But, then he decides to also not lay in with a hit and play the puck in deep hard, and goes for a poke check to control the puck instead.

Really strange. Feels like a no confidence couple of decisions on one simple play
