I feel like with modern tech, they could know where the puck is exactly on the ice.
Couple that with knowing where the stationary blue lines are, and over head cameras and real time player tracking, they could just make offsides an automatic thing and just take that responsibility away from the linesmen.

Just automatically blow the play dead when it's offside. This way no dumb goals being called back.
