I read the LOTR trilogy years ago just before the movies came out. Loved the Fellowship of the Ring. Just a great book. The others were okay but the that first one was the best.

It's amazing how long Tolkien can talk about the way a tree looks though...

If you haven't read the Game of Thrones books, I highly recommend. Sadly they will probably never get finished at the rate he writes them.
