Go smoke a J around 7 and then a 3 hour power nap so you are ready for the game. Can't sleep after the game is over? Go smoke another J

If the Sharks were on a 3-5 game loosing streak, I'd like our chances but they are not. They have 3 out of 6 possible points in their last 3 games.
you're assuming that i want to stay up to watch the game.

I'm pretty sure if I went to Ukraine I could find a fellow Newfie lol. How did your journey in life take you to Chilliwack BC?
Coles notes - papa was a rolling stone who didn’t stop procreating and dragged his family in tow across the country.

I’ve said it before, I was born there but we left when I was a baby, so not raised there but Newfoundland was always present wherever we lived and an influence on growing up.

And of course we found the newfies in every town.

Many have followed a similar path in life, more than half of my family lives in Western Canada. I get a chuckle out of your username because I lived in the Yukon for a year and in all fairness I can only remember parts of it lol.

It's a real dilemma. Tank for Bedard or the best shot vs winning culture with your team on the ice. Bedard would be nice but at this point, the scouts better be doing their homework with the talent from 5-10 range. We need a hit... even if it's just a top 6F.

We need Gallagher back. He's the ultimate tank piece for us. The turnovers he has created this year is staggering. Even Edmundson was helping us loose cause he is not trending well when he played this year. Petry misses Eddy and Eddy misses Petry.

The youth we had to replace injured guys has no doubt help us win games.

Funny, before Eddy's recent back issues, I always thought a contender acquiring Petry and Edmundson together would be a great move.

Now Eklund has a rumor posted that the Pens are eying Eddy.

I would target Eddy if I was the Pens. Eddy and Petry work very well together. And if I was the Pens, I would push for 50% retention and pay what it takes. Pens do need improvements on the D side and what is the point of sitting back with that aging core?

A 1st and B prospect for Eddy at $1.75M this year and next is not a huge price for them to pay. Unless they are worried about not making the playoffs and it becomes a lottery pick. Even protection is risky cause they could slip next year too.

Also, is Eddy's latest injury lower body?

Everybody's injury is lower body injury.

Unless it's E5 CONFIRMED I am not buying it.

If I were a contender I'd look at Chychrun, Gavrikov, Ekholm, Karlesson, and David Savard before Eddy. And I wouldn't pay much for Eddie until he shows he can stay healthy.

So I think, if we want to maximize his value, then we should wait until next TDL. If we want to move a vet d to make room for all the rookies, then we either look to maximize value and move Savard, or we move Eddue for peanuts.

I think Eddy can provide similar value to Gavrikov or Ekholm and he did do that for us in the cup run. I recall him playing through injury that season as well. Cost to acquire Eddy at a much lower cap hit after retention fits both the cap strategy and it's a lower price to acquire. Manson last year flew under the radar to some degree. Teams are just doing their due diligence and the real flood gates have not opened yet.

We are not trading Savard. Drop it. It would take a really crazy offer for us to change our minds. Savard is needed at RD.

Why are you grouping Chychrun and Karlsson with the stay at home types? Pens would love Eddy to play with Petry if he came at $1.75M AAV. Finding two guys as a D pairing is not that easy to do.

What's happening here is teams want Eddy but they want to acquire for cheap and use the injury angle. It's obvious to me.

If I'm a contender in win now mode I don't take a risk on a guy like Eddie who hasn't been able to stay healthy this year. If I have a hole, I got for someone else to plug it, not someone that will plug it for 10 games and then be out with a back injury leaving me back with the hole and no way to fill it it since the TDL passed.

I think Hughes is going to have to decide whether to take a low return for Eddie or wait to trade him next year.

That's because you are a fan and don't have access to his medical report. Why do we assume the worse with Eddy? Possible but why are we acting like we know he is damaged goods for sure? Because he was struggling playing within our young group when most of his career, he was in a strong D core?

You're acting like it's 100% we get low offers this deadline. It's possible but it's not a fact. Trade flood gates are not open yet and there are always surprises on deadline day.

The part we agree on is we are not trading him for cheap.

Yes, I'm not 100% sure Eddie is a player with a high risk of self-injury. It's just the highest probability based on: 1) two injuries to his back this year. 2) Reports have been coming out for a while that his back has been bothering him, and it's reoccurring and getting worse.

Hah, my user name had more to do with Petry looking like Yukon C in Frosty (courtesy of MaxD).

It’s definitely a well travelled path for many. Even spent a year in Newfoundland’s third largest city, Fort McMurray. Stops in Ontario, a few more in BC, growing up the Habs were the only constant I had as no matter where I lived I could watch them every Saturday (gawd I miss SRC on Saturday’s), probably why I’m a still a Habs psycho in my mid 40’s now.

I don't think the showcasing works like some thinks it does. GM's know who Drouin is and what he can or can't do depending on who he plays with.
i think you giving them way too much credit. With players like drouin, the ones that fail landing a key player, willl go for him a plan c or d if even one scout tell them he playing well and might have turned a corner.
