Post-Game Talk: Game 6 Wings vs Ducks

HM: Abdelkader who set up screen for 2 goals

The importance of this in leading to goals seems completely lost on the majority of posters here. Abdelkader's goal also has no chance of going in without everyone's favourite whipping boy screening Hiller perfectly.

Z, D and Abby.

Good to see Abby had a great game after coming back. Looks promising going to game 7.

The real good news is their coach throiwng Hiller under the buss in the press conference after the game.

Has he lost it?

Alright, kinda stupid after celebrating and taking shots after being at the game but I will give my impressions after being at the game.

Great intro for the boys. Didn't get to see it live until tonight, and thought it was well done and got the crowd pumped.

Fan response at the Joe was incredible. Very few Ducks fans and just ear-shattering cheers when the Wings scored.

Howard played great. Stoned Selanne and had no chance on a single goal. Could have had a shutout if there was good coverage and Smith and Fil didn't play ridiculous.

Getz was chirping Dats and Ericsson in the third period before faceoffs. What a **** face.

Selanne getting up in the official's face. Jokes.

Losing that lead was unnaceptable. Filppula probably does not deserve a contract form this team at this point. Just not making a great impact and basically gifting the Ducks a goal.

I got to enjoy the celebration one foot away from my face and could see myself on national TV. Woooooooo!

Also defensively the team was able to keep the Ducks chances to the outside and that 37 or so shots was grossly overestimating the Ducks offensive chances. Some poor breakouts but didn't give up a lot within the house.

Howard, yay. Played big when we needed to and I don't think any of the goals were on him.

Zetterberg. Yay captain producing in clutch.

Datsyuk. Sick backhand.

Franzen. Tried hard and had a good forecheck. Still don't know why he gave up that great opportunity to shoot in the slot and had it taken away form him.

Cleary. **** that guy.

Getzlaf. Chirping mother. Blah blah blah is all I have to say about his performance tonight. Great we shut hium down.

All in all, good day.

Can someone tell me why Getzlaf lost it and was punching the glass after the tripping penalty, it was a pretty obvious trip that had to be taken to stop a 2 on 1 with Datsyuk from what I saw

He was chirping all freaking night. Every time I saw him he was either talking to a ref or a Wings player about something.

:handclap: Excellent.

Thanks for the write up. Always a good time seeing the perspective from ice level. Too bad we can't put you between the boards like Murph for every game and have you post updates.

Would you folks consider playing Lashoff instead of Smith in game 7?

What do you think about their coach's comments on Hiller after the game?

Excellent game for Zetterberg, Datsyuk and Howard. Good game for Franzen, Cleary and Abdelkader.

Awful game for Smith, and Filppula

Getzlaff was probably trying to draw someone into retaliating and take them off the ice. Notice he wasn't chirping just anyone but Dats and Ericcson. Nobody took his bait. In a regular season game he would have had a misconduct on the bench but in the playoffs they let it go a little more.

Boudreau's comments on Hiller was pretty classless right after a tough loss. The wings did a good job screening him, I doubt he saw a couple of those goals. Sunday should be interesting. He said we are not going to let them stand in the paint Sunday night. Expect the Ducks to goon it up Sunday night.

I like Boudeau's comments. Real great for us.
I also hope they will take some bad penalties protecting their goalie/crease.

God, what I wouldn't give for the Wings to beat Anaheim just to get destroyed by Chicago.

Doesn't matter, if Kronwall can smoke one of their top players I'd call it a successful series.

Hopefully Pat Kane.

I think a series with Chicago would look just like this one. This team has responded when their backs are against the wall. If they win game 7 anything can happen even if Holland and Babs are just suddenly stupid and don't have a clue what they are doing.

i wouldn't.

smith has not looked good at all in the games i have seen, but lashoff has been worse, and does not have smith's puck moving or attacking ability.

He has some issues. I couldn't believe all the *****ing he was doing in that 3rd when the only 2 penalties called were so blatant. Smith clearly got high sticked, and Datsyuk was clearly tripped.

I might be in the minority here, but I thought a non-call was right on the Quincey "trip". He seemed to go down a little too easy, and in a crucial situation like that you just keep skating and try to make a play, don't count on the refs to bail you out.

Smith was awful in this game, I hope he develops some defense soon or he's a big time bust.

1. Z
2. Abby
3. Pavs

Calling it right now, we lose in 7. Hopefully we can make it a good game. I wouldn't be shocked if it went to OT, 4 of the last 5 have.

The Ducks have a better depth team and probably win by 2 or 3. We all knew the Wings were barely more than mediocre this year, just happy they made it in and are making Ducks fans sweat. Even if the Wings somehow manage to pull this off, Chicago's going to take them out in 4 or 5.But hey, this team has gone to 6 finals and won 4 Cups in 15 seasons. We also get to cheer on Datsyuk, who might have more magic tricks up his sleeve than any other player in the league. We're the luckiest fans on earth.

Seriously, shut up and play the game.

Chicago aren't the 1976 Canadiens. They are just another parity team with a few stars. Historically mediocre at best. Regular season records mean very little in the playoffs. If they win game 7 the Wings will provide plenty of resistance in rd 2 much like they have in rd 1.

you are right but I made a mistake in saying him setting up 2 screens because he was in front of hiller for 3 goals. somehow I thought we won 3-2.

anyway I can say the team we have right now is a better team than the red wings starting of this series. (minus Dekeyser) Hopefully they tighten up the execution even more for the game 7.
