Very disappointed with the performance of the Rocket. The Habs won't make the playoffs and that's great because we need real talent (Bedard, Fantilli, etc...) but at least we can have a winning team in Laval. From 1, as in Montreal, the attackers are too sport and are being shuffled around. 2, the CH will have to select Snippers, real goal scorers.

Remember in the off season when I said this...

What center will Slaf play with in the AHL if we send him there? Slaf is not a puck possession winger who drives his line so finding the right center for him to play with if we send him to Laval should be taken in consideration. I got ridiculed and some posters said he can drive a line by himself. I love Slaf's potential but he's not a line driver.

Good development is not just about "Slaf needs to play AHL". Good development is monitoring his situation and where he can grow the most. Slaf in the AHL might be on an island by himself where he tries things he shouldn't and could be negative development towards his confidence. Talent needs to play with talent.

I missed a good portion of the third. And I didn't end up looking to see the final score until this morning. So a loss with 8-9 seconds left, huh? They offer Belleville a 5-on-3 midway through the 3rd period, where Baby Sens tied the game. And in the final minute, they offer them a PP to end regulation (and would then carry over to OT), and they get scored on with less than 10 seconds left in the game. So not even a loser point.

Countdown to Houle replacement...

If they get rid of him during the season, the question becomes who is available to take over? Unless they keep one of Buchberger and/or Laperriere and they steer the ship on an interim basis.

You know at some point HuGo will bring in their own people to coach the AHL team. It's only a matter of when and who.

Laval sabotaged their own path to victory.

They played such stupid hockey in the 3rd that they deserved this loss.

I am not impressed with Houle.

I think sending Slaf to this Laval abyss is almost not an option.
There are no Brandon Baddock's down there to keep opposing teams honest, there are no players skilled enough to play with him.
Develop him like they developed Joe Thornton.

Doesn't sound like Laval is a good play for him now... But... If Habs decided to bring Michael Therrien to Laval so that he can make them all better people, then I think is where Slaf should go and stay for the season.

Few solutions...easy thing, name Laperrière by interim. Or maybe even drop Letowski by interim. Name somebody new in the summer. Something I could see, though do NOT agree with....go with Nick Carrière by interim who does have a coaching background.

Then, better options..go outside even in the middle of season. Thing is...they always go with coaches that will use the NHL system in the AHL....with that in mind, it is indeed pretty tough to do it during the season. Pretty impossible to also think that you can name Guy Boucher to do that. Would Joel Bouchard be the stop gap that this team need?

Personnally, I'd go fresh with guys like Éric Dubois who is an assistant coach in Manitoba. Or Éric Veilleux assistant coach in Syracuse.

In the summer, you look in the Q. Stéphane Julien to me is the easiest pick.

I had a hunch that AHL might not be a good spot for Slaf this past pre season. My mind was on who he would play with and I do like talent playing with talent. I think Slaf in the AHL would get in a situation where he felt he needed to try things he shouldn't which would be negative development.

I personally prefer him to develop with MSL and our NHL youth. We are rebuilding so we can tolerate learning on the job

OK, who hacked @Whitesnake’s account?

This is worse than JiC suggesting two days ago that Drouin should be used at centre and Dach moved on the wing.

I want the old Whitesnake back!

What’s next — bring back Larry Chuckles Carrière and name him AGM?

I thought I made myself clear...lol. CLEARLY not my choice. But they kept the guy. He's the manager of those farm teams. And he has, some kind of experience behind the bench being a loser.....Anyway, more a prediction. Definately NOT a wish.....

Note that I didn't go as far as predicting we could bring back Lefebvre...

that was like watching Laval under Bouchard at least in the 1st, dominate the other team while giving up 1 shot all period only to be tied 0-0. We'll see what happens but would think at some point the pucks start going in for them. If Stephens puts that into a wide open net or they score on one of several breakaways this game could have been much different.

Is Guy Boucher coaching anywhere? He was good coach

I don't think he's ready to go to the AHL again.

He probably thinks he's gonna get a call to be an assistant NHL coach at least.

He works in the local media as an analyst.
Right on, Boucher would have been my choice to replace Julien back in '21, instead of Ducharme. Because he comes in and has huge first year or two. Got Tampa and Ottawa both to conference finals. Neither deserved to be there. I thought what we needed back then as Price and Weber both mid-30s or so. He ran good powerplay and ours was weak. Answered a lot of questions
