Honestly could be the snow. Snow brought in with crowds or even snow melt can cause rapid humidity fluctuations which is no bueno for ice creation.

Pretty sure NHL games are broadcast 720p.

I would take 60hz+ refresh rate over more pixels.

It's the 15frames per second that kills watchability.

Fox has a 4K channel. That channel - visually- is leaps and bounds better than what MSG offers.
