Two things:

1 - CBJ is not a bad team. They've got a decent amount of talent. And this goalie has been sharp.

2 - We def played better than last game in this period.

3 - Still far too prone to boneheaded plays. Not so sure Jones made a terrible play. But it just wasn't the safest play. He didn't make the play given to him, he forced it. Had a lot of space and the 4th line had a good shift, but they'd been out there for quite a while at that point. Needed to just make a safer play. But that pass was intercepted 10 feet in front of the CBJ goal. Jones actually got back to defend just fine. But none of the forwards got back. They were likely too gassed but it's still disappointing none of them got back. Didn't help that Reaves fell down trying to get back.

4. The bigger concern that period was K'Andre getting beat and making a few softer plays in his own zone. Laffy fighting it a bit.

5. Positive -- i had no issue with Kravtsov that period. Looked pretty good actually. If Carpenter had any finish he'd have an assist. Kakko continues to be a beast. Who knows maybe he be the one that finally teaches Kreider how to cycle after a decade in the league.

4. Tbf Liam Foudy is one of the better and fastest skaters in the league. The q with Foudy is if he is another Gauthier or if he can become a real player.

The Rangers look like they are working new things into their approach, which I can't complain about. It's still super early in the season.

The Rangers don't know how to play with the puck, or doesn't execute it well, that's the problem. Other weaker teams just let them have the puck, especially the D, and expose the weak/non-existent transition game. The kids are easily the best line because they work as a unit, the other lines are kind of just put together because reasons.
yeah the transition game still needs a lot of work, a lot of their offense is just from chip plays or putting pucks in areas in the neutral zone instead of actually coming out of their zone and through the neutral with control.

I don't get why everyone thinks the sky is falling after that period. I really don't. Maybe you all should have tried watching the Wolf Pack game before this game. Then you'd have some perspective...
It's not the team that's about to make me snap. It's the sky is falling takes before Hallof***ingween.

Half watching, half working but I thought we looked ok. Generated some pretty good chances.
Still forcing a few too many passes that are very low % and a bit messy in our own zone. But not too bad

When they try to razzle dazzle, it's reckless. When they play tighter, it's boring. JFHC, pick one and stick with it.

It's funny seeing people complain about kravtsov, Schneider, Jones, carpenter, and other middling players when the big boys on this team are playing like absolute trash. That's the issue right now. Those other players are the compliment players and their warts show worse when the stars are trash. The stars are trash right now.

What i know about Kreider is that he does so many little things right that he wont be demoted when he has an average game. I used to complain about him too but if you watch his puck protection, his zone exits etc he's still playing well when he looks average and I've come to appreciate his game to game contributions and not complain when he looks "lazy" and just realize he's playing well positionally.

We look good too!

We do this to other teams constantly. I shouldn't have to explain that the better team being down on the scoreboard is a thing.

Look at 75% our wins during Hank's career.

Also, last year at this point we were being outshot, outplayed, Igor was a wall and we were getting bounces and puck were going in.

Right now we are doing the outshooting, outplaying (aside from 3rd period SJ) but pucks aren't going in.

Sucks right now, but we are still 3-1-1, and this game is not over. Long-term, the way we are playing now (aside from cleaning up defense and staying sharp defensively when up by 4 goals) is much more reassuring and sustainable for winning than the start of last season.

Stay calm. We will be fine. The team is too good to not be. We are 3-1-1, we've scored 7 and 6 goals, would have likely scored close to that again if not for Vasy and Hellebuyck, and had a crap loss to a hungry SJ team after a bad period and OT.

Chytil hit was in first 5 min of game, right? That's concerning. He would have made it through protocol by now, no?
