this works if Miller actually yells at Laf for dogging it most of his shifts
So, he gets embarrassed yesterday, gives up an early one today, but now has 30 saves through 38 minutes while his team has 8 total shots on goal. This is a great example of goaltending propping up an atrocious on ice product. We’re up 2-1 while getting outshot 31-8. The level of unacceptable that 8 shots on goal in 2 periods on the heels of an 8-2 loss is cannot really be overstated. This isn’t me pumping Shesterkin’s tires either. This is, this game should be 5-1 Pittsburgh. This team gets points out of a lot of games where 18 guys on the team deserve to lose by 3+. This is what I mean by having a goalie like Shesterkin is a bad thing. He clearly can’t STEAL a Cup for us but he can steal us 3+ spots in the standings. We’re better off finishing where we deserve to be, acknowledging we’re not as good as some of the results we’ve enjoyed and making the necessary changes. Instead, as with Hank, we constantly over perform our actual quality of play. The team in front of him deserves to lose far more often than they do because of him. We’ll never get accurate results with Hank/Shesterkin level goalies in net (and they’re not the same level, but both good enough to mask INCREDIBLE deficiencies).

I'm not some Igor stan - but I will be curious to see what kind of goalie he is if we ever trash this man-on-man and get a semblance of a 6 guy squad that isn't a dumpster fire. The guy has played his entire career behind Ryan Lindgren as a top pairing D-Man.
