Post-Game Talk: Game 57: Loui wins it in OT - Goodbye Columbus - BRUINS 2 CBJ 1 OT

Tampa bay lightning a team way better than Boston who we would have no chance of beating in a 7 game series

Has fallen out of the top 8

Not to mention they've decided to ignore the stamkos timebomb and the Drouin demands.

Like I said in the GDT you add 2 quality D men and you got a helluva team.
They arent that far away.

From a plan perspective, it's kind of irrelevant. The garage sale option that some want went bye bye weeks ago. The team simply puts up too many points. They are flawed, but there are too many top talents to free fall.

DS is gonna attempt to get what the team needs. I think he's gonna make it exciting again.

Agreed. Loui's game is cerebral, not based on speed. He should be effective well into his 30s.

At 6m per season x 4 seasons , I don't think so. I love what the guy has given us in his time here but his trade value will never be higher than right now and will be close to zero in 2 weeks. When we consistently dress trotman and "the human on icectrain wreck" k miller it's time to think longterm value over maybe a 1st rd playoff victory at very best and trade Loui for a top 4 dman

I wish I knew.

Because its driving me nuts. We arent that far off.

Considering how closely packed so many teams are around the "in" playoff spots it is going to be hard to find sellers.

The team has some assets to use but I'm not sure there will be too many teams willing to sell.

True. In 50 years Ive never seen them packed this tight.
Maybe you just stay with the current , hope for playoffs and try to upgrade in the off season?

I think the problem is more that the Bruins won't make it through a 7 game series. This defense is way to easy to pick apart IMO. Julien I think may get them in the playoffs but the Kings game is a good example of what an elite team will do to our defense.

There's a good chance they'll be playing Detroit in the playoffs. That defense is worse than the Bruins.

They have guys that they won't be able to keep and need to move. They will at least add a depth vet d-man with some guys from providence.

"just" 2 really good defensemen is only 2 bodies, but i'd say they are far off since getting those defensemen is quite a task.
another reason why they need to sell on loui (shame cuz i love loui), and compile assets for the necessary D.

Unfortunately, this is where I stand.
Hoping for a miracle.

Hey, if it was easy Id be doing it.

GMs are going to have to find a new way to evaluate teams heading into the trade deadline. I think the Bruins are better than one and done, but with the loser point and the coin toss shootout/4v4, a bad team can be masked as a playoff contender.

Everyone keeps saying there will be no sellers because it's so packed, but if GMs are smart, they know when their team actually has a shot and when they're a pretender.

I think they should acquire a D . Even if it is just some middle of the road guy who wouldn't cost a whole lot . It might finally get K Miller out of the lineup.

Doubt it . Either Trotman or Mac would probably sit before Kevan with Clode behind the bench.

This stat is overrated. If you can't see how he struggles with the puck and the transition game then you are not watching the game

This is very true. The eyeball test says he isnt that good. There is a place for advanced stats but stats on paper aren't always the reality.

Not an easy task no matter how we look at it.
However, if DS can be accomplish this task by acquiring 2 D's that are considerably upgrades to what we are currently dressing, I still feel we are 1 top 6 forward away up front that would make this current forward group a more balanced offensive team.
Bergy and Marchand have been carrying this team a lot this year and LE and Krecji have done well also but we certainly need a 1st line that can be dangerous most nights and not on occasions and to do have this we would need that top 6 forward I mentioned here earlier.

Thus, I am 2 D's and 1 top 6 forward from calling this team a strong competitive team for the po's.

I am not sure if DS could pull this off this year but if he cannot, he better make sure he is heading this direction before the start of next years season.

tampa bay dealt with reality... steve yzerman said theres no chance in hell they are trading stamkos. it comes as zero surprise to me as no team in the playoffs would ever trade away a front line impending ufa for assets

loui Eriksson wont be traded for assets unless we go on a 10 game losing streak minimum between now and the deadline

even Minnesota with their 10 game losing streak is going to be adding ufa... we all rumor Eriksson to them FOR assets. that's how real teams behave in the real nhl

its funny people blame ot/the shootout for being close... reality is some teams gain points in ot/shootout and some don't... but its not always good teams losing the points and not always bad teams getting the points.

the total number of games decided in regulation isn't much different then it was in the past when both teams got a point for a tie.

its not ot that causes closeness... its the cap. its the reverse draft.

we are now far enough into the cap era... that we see its effect. almost no team can get lucky enough to build a dynasty. when a team has success its players want a raise. when the players get a raise they are too expensive and those good players move to a team with cap room

we had success... then that success brought us back to the pack. the only team that has not been brought back to the pack in recent years is Chicago... la missed the playoffs... Pittsburgh has struggled... Detroit has struggled... no team has remained at the top unscratched for the last 6-7 years.

new teams rise... but its not an overnight sensation. teams don't completely fall off the cliff overnight... don't become super teams overnight

most teams are doomed to the middle... but that makes being in the middle valuable. most teams will have to hope to make the playoffs and earn some money... that will be the realistic goal for most teams

when a team has a chance for this goal... it cant be throwing it away. it might not come around every year. a team might get a 6-7 year run where they are in the playoffs like st louis or san jose... they might never win the cup... but they will fall after that.

a team might be in the playoffs for awhile like Ottawa... then miss it for most years in the 6-7 years after their run as they try to rebuild

you have to appreciate the playoffs when you can
