The only change to the playoffs should be to go back to 1 vs 16 and rank them that way like they did in the early 80’s. This divisional stuff is nuts now as you can have a team with less point that you finish #1 in their division and have home ice. Or go 1 vs 8 in the conference. I think its time for a change IMHO

did they do east vs west in the first round then? that's kinda cool if so

Seems logical.
However this the non-logic NHL we're speaking of.

I like 1 vs 8 in each conference

..but 1 vs 16 sounds interesting

Or not. Stop with the silly gimmicks. Not everything is about revenue. They've already ruined the Winter Classic by having too many outdoor gimmick games, now you want to screw up the playoffs?

Edvinsson and even Johannson begin to make significant impacts, along with vets like Talbot\Lyon, Larkin, DeBrincat and Kane giving them good goaltending and primary and depth scoring. This is a team worth making deadline deals for to upgrade their forward position and RD position. Wonder what Marchand would get back from Detroit, or even bigger Marchand\Carlo?

Ok your perspective then why watch? I mean you are so sure they are not making what makes you watch and post here. Im not being an ass i just don’t understand people who are so sure the team won’t make the playoffs spend hours of their time on this team.

I typically don't have much luck locating a means to watch these national games. Particularly with New York based teams. I am also pretty sure that both the lady and I have the flu right now, so maybe watching this team isn't the best plan tonight.

The 1 vs 16 is great you can only do that with a balanced schedule. Like they had in the 21 team league.

time for Coyle to get Poitras minutes and vice versa, will Poitras make mistakes? Sure, kid has what? 8-9 pts less than Coyle in 30 or so less games, seen enough

I'm pretty sure the only time it wasn't East vs West in the Finals was after expansion, when they did the O6 vs Expansion teams for a couple years and other silly matchups for a few years after that. That's how the 1970 B's played the Blues. Since 1981, it's been East vs West.
 
Weakest draft in 25 years, chances of a pick from 20-32 making the NHL are minimal, especially when he will probably be a Sweeney reach or project. Deal the first for a second line winger. That should not effect moving Coyle, who makes the team stronger by going away.
