Who do you want to bring in to help the top-6? We need someone to replace Granlund. Idk if there's a young guy ready for that yet.
I'd bring in Copp/Compher for compensation from Detroit (preferably Copp). They're not great, but could survive as the 6th forward in the top 6 next year probably. From there, it depends how the draft goes in terms of whether we get Schaefer versus Misa.

I'd also look at someone like Zucker on a short-term deal given the year he's having in Buffalo. Obviously wouldn't expect him to shoot at a 19.6% clip again, but think he'd be a nice veteran piece on a line with Smith and Zetterlund.

Not really looking to go all in on trading for a top 6 winger at this juncture given the number of options in the system right now. Really just need one of Musty, Chernyshov, Graf, or Haltunnen to hit as a 2nd liner and you start to feel good about that group. If you draft Misa, you basically have your 2nd line of Misa-Smith-Zetterlund for the future.

Then with Macklin, I'd expect his RW to be a revolving door sort of like Crosby had since he should be able to elevate and carry that line without necessarily having two bonafide top liners with him.

Poturalski has shown why he only gets one or two games before getting sent down.

I really dislike this take when the dude came into the Top 6 and has multiple good chances out there. We had regular NHLers make dumbass plays all game and our goalie is terrible, focusing on Poturalski seems weird. I thought considering the situation he actually did well — far better than 2nd line Kunin would have.

It is quite an odd "own" that some like to pile on with unnecessarily. Like cool, we all sort of figured there was a reason that he was in the AHL all of these years and not the NHL with multiple orgs.

Not like that crowd is rebutting someone saying "Poturalski should get serious look at 3C" or something like that. He's a good piece for the Cuda and happy that he's getting some NHL time heading into the 4 Nations break.

Shouldn't likely be here after that once Wennberg is back, but the attempt at piling on him like anyone thinks something to the contrary is ridiculous and par for the course for the handful of posters doing it.

Copp is a good backup plan but adding Bennett would really set us up well long term. Have him center Smith and Zetterlund next season with Smith getting reps taking draws on the right side. Eventually run Celebrini-Smith-Bennett down the middle for some terrific center depth. We would be able to get away with spending less on the wing too.

Chandler Stephenson (6.25Mx7) is probably the bare minimum but I'd go up to 7x7 if he has any interest in playing here.

The funny thing is, I thought this was one of Goodrow’s better games this season.
And he was still virtually useless.Bi

His hockey stat card agrees with you.

Also, I thought this was another good game for Ferraro. I would not trade him until next season’s deadline.

I don't like paying guys destined for 3rd line duty on 7 year deals. Particularly a guy whose game is based on physical play and skating, but is going to be in his age 29-35 year old seasons. It's not a skillset that is going to age well, and the current has missed an average of 16 games a year since 2018-19 while barely scoring at a 50 point pace. I get that he does other things to impact winning, but those things aren't going to continue as he ages.

That's a fair point about his injury history but by year 3 of that contract $7M will be the equivalent of like $5M today which is totally reasonable for an elite 3C. Maybe it's just the scar tissue from watching 15 years of the Sharks going into the playoffs with a garbage third line but I think 3C is an important piece worth paying for and I don't really have any faith left in Bystedt becoming a good one.

Poturalski is a far worse possession player than Kunin or Goodrow while potentially creating more high danger chances. He plays like an underwhelming 18 year old rookie without the potential.

I don't like the equivalent factor becaus by that point (7 to 5), the guys making 10 now will be making like 13 then. We have a ton of guys to extend down the road and they're all aware of the rising cap so we're going to need as much space as we can muster.

I don't disagree that it's important, it's more just that I think 3C is pretty volatile year to year and I don't think Bennett will age well given his play style and traits he needs to be successful. He's a guy that I expect the aging curve to hit pretty hard as he loses a step and the physical stuff takes a toll.

If it was 5 years at $7M a year, I'd do it. Those last 2 years in his age 34/35 seasons just have buyout written all over them, and we're not close to competitive enough to be saddled with buyout hits right as Macklin/Smith/2025 1st rounder are hitting their primes both in terms of ouput, but also cost. That's when we most need the cap flexibility.

This is exactly why I can't take losses this year as lightly as last year. There are already pieces in this team that can realistically take this team to the best version of what this franchise can be. That's why it's important MG learns to react and take action to cut anything that stands in the way. The way Georgiev has performed should not give him another game in teal.
Don't away my Tank Commander . Fourgiev should play every single game from now to the end of the year to secure the 1st spot on the lottery. Players morale is overrated. Their morale will get better once they know they are drafting 1OA Matthew Schaefer
