Wow actually having McDavid, Draisatl, and RNH on their own lines? Wild concept.

Anyway, early returns seem to be good for Necas. Maybe they knew what they were doing after all.

If you exclude empty net points Necas has more points than Rantannen. He's actually top 10 in the NHL excluding empty net points (well at least he was when I looked into this a few days ago).

Fun fact, Oilers are actually one of the deepest teams for scoring goals. we have 14 players with 5 goals or more, 6 with 10+

Yeah, this is somewhat a myth this year. Outside of PP scoring which down quite a bit, the team is bang on with what they were scoring at this point last year despite RNH, Hyman and Bouchard being down quite a bit and McDavid also being down a little... and Kane not even in the lineup.

Granted last year isn't a great benchmark for depth scoring, but overall I think it's better this year than last.

I know I should be proud of this but all it does is make me annoyed how much this franchise subsidizes certain teams down south while they also get every break in officiating and marketing. Katz needs to start capitalizing on this more, we're a f***ing money machine and the NHL needs to respect us.
Considering that Ottawa/Winnipeg are routinely at the bottom of the league in generated revenue, and even Calgary is edging down into the abyss as the canadian dollar tanks - might want to revise your subsidized american teams narrative

Yeah, we've been on both sides of the issue, so I'm not opposed to the current system, moreso just opposed to dragging it out too long for some markets that are consistently a drain like Arizona had been for a long time. Now that they're out (for now), it seems like every team has at least had a decent run at one point where they likely were contributing to the league instead of leeching off of it, which implies they could again in better times in terms of team performance.

Wondering why OP figures a “lazy Leon” game is incoming. It would be great if all the Oiler players were “lazy”, I guess, since he leads the NHL in scoring and is the favourite for the Hart Trophy.
He used to be a big Drai backer. He seems to have turned on him a bit lol when Drai is having a great year!

Maybe I misinterpreted the tweet but his words made it seem like he didn’t want to his full effort into a game at this point in the season and was saving energy to ramp things up later in the season.
