You know I’m just thinking out loud here but it seems like west coast teams in every sport have a pretty inherent advantage. It’s a lot easier to play 3 hours earlier than you’re used to but a lot harder to play 3 hours later than you’re used to. By the third it’s like 1230am for the east coast guys. Must have some impact.

SY ought to do this team a favor for battling back and go shopping for a #1LD and drop Chiarot to the 3rd pairing OR AT WORST a significant replacement for Holl. It’s unfair to the players and fans alike if we have to continue watching Justin Holl play hockey in the NHL.

But really, it’s time to make a move. Find a way. I’m done with this “we need to be a true contender to buy players” mentality. We’re one (two max) players away from being a tough out in the playoffs.

The bolts have two home games against the Sens then play the wings at LCA then the Habs to close out their week before the break, I think that will even them up with games played with the wings...

Ya I know. Sucks that there's 4 guaranteed points going to our direct competition. Hopefully they both lose one in regulation

I agree. Swap Tarasenko with an actual top 6 forward (like Cozens or Ehlers) and drop Chiarot down by getting another top 4 dman (like Byram or Hague) and we’re a dangerous team…

So long as there are no 3 point games out of it, if they each lose one in regulation, that is not necessarily a bad thing for the wings...especially if the wings beat Seattle on Tuesday...

yeah, I'd really like to see gus with a different partner. It's crazy that Holl might be the one guy playing worse under McLellan.

Aren't we at the point though where we know exactly what Holl is? Why are people shocked when he plays bad? Oddly, I think Gus is one of the most improved players under McLellan. His play as of late has been totally serviceable for a third pair, semi-offensive defensemen.

True, but now they are currently in the WC1 spot...and have control their playoff destiny...The Bolts have 2 games in hand and can leapfrog them by Saturday, the wings have games left with the Sens and Blue Jackets and currently have the tie-breaker over the Blue Jackets.

Only the 2nd game I've watched Marcus Pettersson play this yr.....but it was the 2nd game he was a ghost I hardly noticed.

I guess that's not the worst thing in the world for a defensemen.

But not really that great for a guy who might get $7M+ AAV as the 2nd best DMan on the market this summer

Gavrikov is probably the better option if we're just looking for a defensive rock to stick next to Seider

I don't think it's so much a surprise that he's bad, but disappointment that he continues to look worse. Instead of being lifted a bit with the team playing better, as pretty much everyone else has, he has just been pushed further and further behind.

Agree about gus. I don't mind the guy, especially for his cap hit. And why I'd like to see him with someone other than holl before we keep slagging on him.

Maybe they do, but keep in mind that they have to travel to multiple time zones a lot more than the Eastern Conference teams do, who could go weeks staying in their own time zone.
