Yes you are correct, originally from Halifax but moved to Montreal early on and were based out of Montreal for most of their career. I got to see them a few times live, so good and so many great tunes.

I saw them more than once as well and they never disappointed. My son then saw them in St John's at the George Street Festival about 8 or 9 years ago and called me to ask if I'd ever heard of them or seen them. lol. Love how things come around again.

Keep up the music posts! Always a hit with me!

I've never been to montreal but it's on my list.
My dad told me recently that he went there in his early 20s; hes never been much of a drinker or partyer but he told me "something in the air told him it needed to be done" and so he ended up getting blackout and seeing some peelers with his pals.

predictions:
1 Jets PP in the 3rd
MTL gets 3 PP's
Jets are hungover
Helly saves the game, but barely
Spent a month there one weekend. Awesome city.

I was able to find footage of the Jets first ever victory against the Canadiens. It's at home as I believe the Jets lost their first ever game in Montreal 7-0 and would lose by greater margins over the years, finally winning their first in the Forum in 1984?

I just retired the old Coopers this year, for some new equipment, that I still haven't figured out.

Habs I think are the biggest frauds among the Eastern WC contenders. Hope the Jets come out skating put on a show under the bright lights and the energy of the Bell Center.

Was this also the first of the 'Tuxedo Nights' at the old barn? Which was our response to the Canadians and the old NHL brass labelling Winnipeg as having "no class".

Thanks, don't care what anyone says April Wine should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. If they were from the U.S they probably would be by now.

I always felt that they should've been bigger especially in the States, I mean Roller is as good as any arena rock band tunes that American bands were pumping out. For some reason they never hit down south. Jerry Mercer was a beast on drums

I just gotta say, you got some pretty big gumshoes to fill there, Frank. Barnaby broke Inannagate, probably the biggest scandal in HF Boards history. Ya gotta figure he/she/them will be back at some point, and we're all relying on you to smoke them out again.

Barnaby's on another case for the time being. I'm stepping in, to beef up ongoing investigations. ;)

MAC, I very much enjoyed reading about your memories of your Mother and the time you spent with her. It did bring back fond memories of my Mother who pass away several years ago. It is unfortunate that certain posters post pictures of dreck that was indeed in bad taste and shouldn't be allowed in a Hockey forum. I am sorry that I generally don't post before The GDT because I simply do not have anything the say. It is also true about the post game is, what do you say that hasn't been said. Anyways keep up the excellent work and as Peter Warren once said "Don't let the bastards get you down".

I was at that game. Early in the first period during a stoppage in play, when the arena was quiet, some bozo who was blitzed on rum stood up and in a mighty megaphone voice belted out "KILL THE F**KING HABS!" for the whole arena to hear -- including the Habs. The little old lady sitting beside the bozo looked up at him in utter horror. No arena staffers showed up to eject the bozo, and the exhortation obviously worked as the Jets did indeed kill the f**king Habs. An NHL assist to the bozo, uncredited in the stats sheet. (I know this same bozo also got a WHA assist but that's another story.)

I guess you are saying the Jets had a high BOZO/60 that game and that fella had xRUM%.

Good? Bit of a stretch for a team currently out of the playoff picture. Ok? Sure. Comparable to Connor-Scheifele-Vilardi? No.
I mean, you *could* compare them by looking at their on ice results

Some are favorable, some less so

CSV scores at a rate of 3.08 G/60 and gives up 2.61 G/60

SSC scores at 4.56 G/60 and gives up 2.98 G/60

It is ok to look at another teams players or lines and admit they're good. I'd rather have CSV, but I'll also admit that I'm biased because I love the Jets and hate the Habs

Montreal's biggest problem is keeping the puck out of their net. They're 7th last in goals against (and 15th for goals for). So.you can't blame them being out of the playoffs on the top line

Well hopefully the Jets actually come out to work & play vs the Habs tonight instead of taking the night off and expecting to win purely on talent like they normally do vs the Habs. For the habs players playing vs top teams is their stanley cup so expect them to come out flying and the Jets need to match their work effort and they will win.

"month there one weekend"...

Lol...

Every 2nd year in towards the summer... my wife and I and another couple book a boutique hotel just below Mont Royale for 4 days... buy tickets for the match up at McGill Stadium with the Bombers versus the Alouettes...

Daily the ladies shop... the men hit brew pubs; always walking/you don't need a car downtown... meet for lunch or for supper... rinse repeat daily...

On the Bomber game days... the same things are done, plus... and when the Bombers win we tromp to a restaurant that does trays of fresh Oysters as the prize...

Montreal is soooooooo choice for a short holiday in the summer... I highly reccomend it...
