Part of me thi is Struble would be better with Carrier than Xhekaj at this stage of their respective developments. Overall I see him as more stable. Though after not playing a lot recently, hopefully Xhekaj is the right pick.

It is irrelevant who the players are. only the location matters. Majority of fans in NHL stadiums are Canadian or American.

Anthems/national flags are supposed to kinda show that we're all on the same team, regardless of the special interest group we might represent on a checklist. They're kinda out of place at a hockey game, for sure. I just don't think today is the day I'd want to remove any symbols of 'togetherness' we've still got in day to day society, as imperfect as they may be or how wonkily they're deployed.

I've always wondered if they would consider bringing in a system where they could opt to alternate the away anthem to one representing any of the players from the visiting team. So if Florida were visiting they could opt to have it be the Finnish anthem, etc.

edit what “interest group” lol. They are threatening to collapse our economy - the “please don’t crash our country” interest group? Stick to hockey, bro.

It's truly a wonder to behold someone who can manage to hold opinions as banal as yours without collapsing into a black hole.

My comment was about anthems in general because that's what the post I quoted was discussing, nothing specific to the USA. I even offered a solution that would have us not be so locked into the same USA/Canada 24/7 repetition. Feel free to rage and cry about every little american thing in your life, though, bro. Boycott, divest etc. I won't stop you. /shrug

It is very amusing to me that all of a sudden Canadians care about the economy, though. :laugh:

I think this could be a good pair. I like Carrier but for all his qualities, he lacks size, so I think Arber can balance that

What? people boo and disrespect anthems at a game? That is so reprehensible, perpetrated only by ignorant low-life contemptuous scum. To do so would be such an embarrassment to the organization and paint the fan base as deplorable and despicable. But great way to deter players and tourists wanting to go to Montreal.lol
