Pre-Game Talk: Game 51: Wild @ Habs 1/30/25 7:00pm EST TSN2, RDS

I would have gone Mailloux over Struble to try

Hutson-Carrier
Matheson-Savard
Xhekaj-Mailloux

Also would like to see Mailloux with Hutson in the offensive zone

...I wonder if Fleury remembers:

- Will be interesting to watch both Struble-Savard and Xhekaj-Carrier, as Savard will have a good effect on Struble as he did on X, and Carrier compliment's X's game well.
- Newhook has been good lately, great balance to Laine and Dach.
- Dobes has settled in now, his numbers have come back down to earth, but of course they still look good. He's said to have a strong mental game, with a mental coach. I'm expecting him to play great.

Can't wait for Matheson and Hutson to play half an hour each.
I don't want to think about it the first time we over played rookie Dmen they ALL got injured at one point.

For God sakes Marty do not ever play Hutson on his weak side. I hated seeing the kid hesitant to go get a puck to close out a period. That isn't Hutson and it's the first time I've seen him looking overwhelmed. The last time I saw hesitancy like that was actually a right winger refusing to go after a puck in Xhekaj's corner. :amazed:

Is there some kind of a summer course St Louis can take that will teach him the most obvious things? Like playing players in their natural positions, time outs, net presence during powerplays, perhaps one or two alternative systems (concepts)?

I hope they don't steal Pezz from us.
That will be quite a loss.

Just over thinking the situation.
The pairings we had were as good as it was going to get without a trade.
The reason our play isn't nearly as good as it was during the winning run is we have to give post season effort to win regular season games. Something that is hard enough to maintain in the post season with regular rests nevermind in the regular season once you start adding B2B 3in4 etc. It was never going to be sustainable for such a Depth deprived team.

Wild on a back to back, on Habs home ice.. We should win this.
That is exactly what I said the last time they were here when all the posts and media buzz was speculating it would be MAF's last game at the Bell Center...

How many times are they going to ride that horse LMFAO. :deadhorse
