GDT: Game #51 - Red Wings @ Oilers - 7PM - Swedish? Hold my beer

Some people are incapable of acknowledging that some goals he lets in are bad defense or just good plays.

Not even a Skinner booster, but it does grow tiresome. At least save the criticism for the bad ones, like the Matt Roy goal against in the WSH game. That was brutal.
First one any goalie would be hard pressed to stop a puck changing direction like that so close to the net. Second one Raymond was obviously trying to go far post with it and the stick check altered the shot but Skinner should have had that one.

But the Oilers cant be turning pucks over so much and giving up breakaway after breakaway.

Klingberg was capital B bad on the first Detroit goal.

You can see the puck skills though. More than one Bouchard type outlet pass.
I think he expected Nuge to stay with him but yeah he’s been a bit overly aggressive with his gaps so far. That’s more of a timing thing though. I think his mobility has looked fine. We need to be patient and give him a long look.

The oilers don't need to go shopping in the bargain bin for goalies. He's a mediocre goaltender and there is no reason to be relying on him.

Maybe he'll be be good when he's 30, but the oilers can't wait until then.
I don't disagree. I would very much like to have an upgrade in net, but I think people do need to recognize that the guy isn't paid like a starter, and as a result the pressure needs to be on the offense to score. There's an imbalance on this forum.

dylan larkin isnt top end talent? they have 3 20 goal scorers and Patrick kane. 25 goals makes you a top 10 scorer in the league right now FWIW. I think Oilers fans get spoiled by generational talent and it makes them jaded to top end talent.
I don't consider him top end. His peak is about the same as Hopkins'. Very good player, but he can't carry a team.

Save percentage was used to show how good Skinner was for a whopping month, but now that it points out how mediocre he is, it's suddenly useless and a waste of time.

The kid is an inconsistent goalie, it's that simple. Hopefully management sees what every other media outlet in the league sees and finally admits he's the weakest link on this team.
No. That's not even close to what I'm saying.

Save % immediately after a goal is simply a stupid metric to use because it significantly skews the data as it's being compared to the percentage from other goalies whose stats are recorded over a full game.

It would be like people only reporting Skinner's % before a goal is scored. Equally stupid.

I assume it's more of an annoyance that no one upstairs seems to realize what every other team seems to and get a goalie.

There is a reason you could change the sports name to goaltending. It's the most important position and they seem to think it's still the 80s...

Ah, I'd like this if I could, lol.

So again, stats don’t tell the story, ever, when it comes to this player. And only this one.

Man, I starting to think L. Ron has a more sane group of followers than the Stuart Stans.

I'd be livid if the Oilers were scoring 5 goals a game but kept losing 6-5 because they couldn't get a save...this isn't the case

Skinner is what he is....average...he's paid to be average and plays average
