I'm watching the Edmonton game in its entirety for the first time and I have a few of what you kids call "hot takes":

Connor McDavid is just Andreas Athanaseiou with better PR people.

Seriously -- he's fast with the puck but it's pretty easy to spin up to top speed quickly when you give no thought to the notion of ever going in the other direction and zero f*cks about turning it over. I laughed out loud when Johansson took the puck away from him mid-dipsy-doodle spin. What a f*cking clown.

Without the beast Draisaidl they wouldn't even sniff the playoffs.

And that penalty call on Larkin was the most spectacular dive I've seen since the retirement of Greg Lougainis.

Yeah, that's a no for me dog (except for the part about the dive).

Though I'm interested in whatever it is you're drinking before posting this!

"It's -19 degrees Celsius - or 0 degrees Fahrenheit - tonight in Calgary, but there are some hot things to look forward to to help you warm up in the Scotiabank Saddledome tonight. The Red Wings riding their latest hot streak is one; another is, of course, the Flames because, well, fire, and their own record over their last 10 games. Then there's the veritable cornucopia of food and snacks available to warm up a cheering hockey fan. Whether it's a Pocket Dawg or pork belly and noodles, Detroit fans are hoping that it's the hot Wings on the ice that they remember tomorrow, and not just the cuisine."

The last time I was at a live Wings game, Saddledome Oct 23, 2015 😂😂😂 every other time in the 7 years I lived in Calgary the wings were in town, I wasn’t.

WOOHOO! Are those Pocket Dawgs any good? Or did they not have 'em then?

(I initially thought you were posting from the game tonight. Then I saw Kronner's jersey. :) )

I think the last time I was at a live game was when the Wings were here playing the Wild. 2017 maybe.

So I’m sure this has been covered several times, so apologies. Where’s Ken? I know Mickey often misses these trips, but yeah.

Burgers is so underrated. He takes hits, he works hard defensively, his all-around game has come so far. I really rate him. I hope he’s a long term Wing.

Kenny's on the IR. So was DDK scheduled to take these games on the road trip since Mickey doesn't travel often only to find out at the last minute that he's going to have his first games announcing with another rookie?

Woot, evening game and I don't have to entertain or plan a ship. Time to clean out the fireplace

Not loving this start, need some energy.

I don't know if they had them back then or not, a friend of mine has a couple of season tickets in the club section, so the wife and I ate at the swanky eatin' area before the game, the seats are right behind the timekeeper bench pretty much at center ice.

We move back east in 2021, if we still lived there, I would be there.

With a road trip schedule like the Wings have here, I don't understand people who think there should be MORE games in a season, let alone that 82 makes for good hockey.
