Why does it seem like opponents always have their key players return against the Rangers?

I know our bottom 6 is pretty yucky, but please kill the Caps tonight.

Even with Igor in net, I have a sinking feeling the Rangers will go on a little losing streak. Doubly worse considering its against division rivals and will probably annoy Dolan to the point where he pokes Drury to make a shortsighted move.

At the MINIMUM it is inexcusable to think that McKegg on the third and Goodrow on the fourth does ANY good. Oh, spreading the depth… there is no depth. Put Goodrow on the third and play the fourth sparingly, the end. Sure, Chytil to the second and Hunt to the third (or Barron with Hunt knocking McKegg out of the lineup) would be even better. But at a minimum, there’s no excuse for “spreading the depth” by having McKegg on the third line.

I havent been too critical of Gallant considering their record - but I just dont get how McKegg could be elevated anywhere in this lineup when he doesnt really give this team anything other than good PK time.

It’s inarguably a better lineup given who is healthy and available. Not rocket science. NHL coaches are too “clever” for their own good.

That's what really jumped out to me too. GG likely just trying to find 5 on 5 chemistry...we're so top heavy with such shit depth, really miss KK and Blais
